No way this trade is going down. May is not only undersized, he's also just not good enough. And there's no way Nachbar (who has more than proved to be a good player) AND a pick are worth him.
Idk Nets need some big dudes. And May would fit in pretty damn well IMO. Maybe the Nets could squeeze somethinelse outta the Bobcats.
<div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Isn't that a lot to give up for May?</div> Agreed. He does have some potential though, but a number 17 pick could have the same amount or may even be better than him. Plus were basically giving up our bench.
Sean May is a decent player and maybe for Nachbar straight up. The #17th pick? Are you crazy?? There is some decent player that can be a big man who can do better than him. What happened with getting Randolph from Portland?
I like May a lot for the Nets, he's a pretty good player, and if he didn't keep getting injured people would probably recognize him more as a nice young big. His numbers this season were: 11.9 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 1.9 APG, 0.5 SPG, 0.7 BPG, 1.6 TPG, .503 eFG%, .551 TS%, 19.1 PER, 23.9 MPG Sean May's PER 40 numbers for his two seasons in the NBA: <font color=""Navy"">05-06 (23 games):</font> 19.0 PPG, 11.0 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1.7 SPG, 1.2 BPG, 3.3 TPG, 5.8 FPG, .409 eFG%, .474 TS%, 15.3 PER <font color=""navy"">06-07 (35 games):</font> 19.9 PPG, 11.1 RPG, 3.2 APG, 0.9 SPG, 1.1 BPG, 2.7 TPG, 4.8 FPG, .503 eFG%, .551 TS%, 19.1 PER Compared to Nachbar: 9.2 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.4 SPG, 0.3 BPG, 0.9 TPG, .570 eFG%, .614 TS%, 14.5 PER, 20.2 MPG <u><font color=""navy"">PER 40: </font></u> 18.2 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 1.6 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.7 BPG, 1.8 TPG Nachbar's only advantage comes in scoring efficiency, but he was scoring off passes from Kidd and Carter and did no creating for himself at all. Nachbar for the season had 90% assisted made FG's, 9/10 of his makes were assisted, that's INSANE. May was assisted on 66% of his made FG's, so that right there cancels out any advantage he has in scoring efficiency. Also he's basically still a rookie in terms of NBA experience, he's played a total of 58 games so far, not even a year in the league, and he's 23 years old. His last 35 games, this past season are very good, his fouling went down, scoring efficiency went way up, turnovers down, a 19.1 PER rating, a great rebound rate his whole career so far (something New Jersey would like), and he's also a fairly good passer. If I'm New Jersey I'd jump on this if you can take the chance of him being healthy. Nachbar has been nice for them last season, but he's 4 years older, not close to the overall player May is, and doesn't give New Jeersey some of those critical things they need. May and Krstic in the frontcourt together with Vince, RJ and Kidd if RJ stays would be pretty nice. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Isn't that a lot to give up for May?</div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">No way this trade is going down. May is not only undersized, he's also just not good enough. And there's no way Nachbar (who has more than proved to be a good player) AND a pick are worth him.</div> You guys are underatting May. How has Nachbar "proven to be a good player", and proven to be a better player? Nachbar so far has had one good year in the NBA, the first year he shot up to and over 40% FG btw. He's proven to be good at hitting catch and shoot shots, but not a better player, May just hasn't played that many games which is why people aren't taking notice of him being a fairly good big man. The other good thing is that May actually has range on his shot (he can hit three's, I saw him in summer league), and he can hit mid-range jumpers well. He shot a .464 eFG% on his jumpshot last season (up from 31.1% as a rookie), with 55% of his total attempts being jumpers. Krstic for example who we all know can shoot, shot .472 eFG% on his jumpers in 05-06 with them being 47% of his attempts. If you still don't believe me, look at his Shot Chart. He hit 50.5% FG on the 109 shots he took from outside 15 feet. He was hot on the left side of the court, okay in the middle (.421 on a jumpshot is actually fairly good for a big too), good on the more wing like right area again (60%), and bad on the right side, but took 4 shots there. Inside 15 but not in the paint, he was fairly good everywhere but the left side. Also about him being undersized, he's listed at 6'9, but he's actually only 6'7, and about 6'8.5 with shoes. He's got a big body, so he won't get pushed around. He isn't anything special defensively, but didn't you guys want Randolph, definately not worse than Zach, and 10 times cheaper. The important thing though is that he has an 8'9 standing reach, and a 7'1,25 wingspan, longer than a guy like Charlie and David Lee, and close to that of Frye's (7'2.5). You're not going to get a guy like Randolph for Nachbar and a pick, May is a better player than Nachbar and can do a lot for New Jersey as their PF. The 17th pick could possibly, maybe be better than May later down, but I'll take my chances with that, May was the 13th pick in another deep draft. May is already putting up good numbers outside of being injured and not getting minutes (same team as Okafor), and is only 23 years old. Saying all that though, I wouldn't give both Nachbar and the pick, I'd just offer the pick, or maybe offer Antoine Wright with the pick and try and get a second rounder. I've never been a fan of Wright, don't know if anyone likes him or values him highly. Nachbar has done well for the Net's, and his shooting is nice. Also, like I said, May has injury problems, and if the Nets are willing to think he'll get over that, and be in shape, but it's a good deal both ways if he pans out. EDIT: Actually, the Nets should just offer Antione Wright and see how that goes, maybe a second round draft pick.
^Good post og, you've got me on your side. It may not be a big deal, but I'm still a bit worried about him getting injured again. He may be a great player while playing at full strength, but if he happens to go down, we might be in a deep hole.
Problem with him is being in shape which in turn affects his health. I think New Jersey can get him for much less, and that's what the management should be looking to do. I think a good offer for him would be Antonie Wright, and if that doesn't work, Wright and a second rounder. I would give Bostjan for a sure to be healthy and in shape May, but obviously that's no gurantee, so like I said at the end, I won't do that. If New Jersey can get that to work, at the 17th pick, they can get a SF/SG, or even still get a big man if they really want to. Also just to add, last thing I heard about May was that he was planning to lose weight this off-season, and he had a rigourous workout planned for the summer in order to play the whole year next season. So if you guys get him, you'll probably end up getting the healthy good version, not the overweight always injured one.
May hasn't played close to a full season since he got into the league. Worse yet, he hasn't really been given starter minutes in his years in the league and he would almost have to be expected to play 30 mpg in Jersey. I'm sorry, May is a great and proven talent, but I just don't think he has the durability to last. Seeing how much injuries killed us last season I'll pass.

lol, I was wondering where 6'10 came from too, but we can see Charlotte does hold value to him, I mean they call it a "give away". There isn't really a player at 17th in this draft that is clearly his superior and can for sure produce what he did even though it was just 35 games. Also he's a UNC guy, and they have a new GM, so the first move as a new GM in Charlotte shouldn't be to trade the UNC guy that was a champion etc.
