Warriors guard Sarunas Jasikevicius picked up his $4 million option for next season, as expected, but it remains unlikely that Golden State will be the team issuing his paychecks.
Jasikevicius, who had until Sunday to guarantee the last year of the three-year, $12 million contract he signed with the Pacers in 2005, quickly disappeared from the Warriors' rotation after arriving from Indiana in January.
Though the Lithuanian was pegged as the backup to Baron Davis, Jasikevicius struggled in coach Don Nelson's open-court system and was relegated to cheerleader status during Golden State's playoff games.
Jasikevicius drew interest from several teams, including the Raptors, before the trade deadline, and his agent expects trade avenues to be explored again this summer.
"Sarunas has all the respect in the world for Nellie, but he wants to play," agent Doug Neustadt said. "If he's not a part of that rotation, then Golden State will probably make a move. But obviously, they've got to get something back that they want. At least that's what they told me."

Blockbuster trade of Sarunas for Reggie Evans is imminent.

If Mullin makes Cabbage for Evans trade, I guess we are pretty much giving up on signing both Biedrins and Monta. Not that Evans is a bad player, but his 4 years, roughly 4.7 mils per year contract will be a big burden in next offseason...

Besides, we have to resort to doing this because of what Mullin paid Adonal Foyle. You know this guy makes more money per year than Marcus Camby?

If the Warriors could just let Sarunas walk, I'd agree. But from how I am understanding it, the option was a player's option, so the team he plays for has no say whether or not his contract will remain or not. 4 million dollars though would be better seen on Earl Boykins though. However since the Warriors probably don't have enough cap space to sign anyone this offseason anyhow, I guess Sarunas staying on the cap has no true effect on Boykins coming back or not.
