So let's say we trade RJ, could we possibly sign this guy to a contract? Do we have enough money to offer him?

As of now, he would be the best replacement if RJ gets shipped out.

    Thoughts?

I really don't know the guy in terms of what he wants. Does he prefer a better contract, or to be on a better team?

Considering his last contract wasn't that big...I'm thinking he's going for money. Outside of the MLE, we can't offer him much. NOt sure if he'll get more, but I think we're trying to resign Moore with that.

I think he will be better for this team than RJ. He has had many great games and is a really good defender. I would still rather have Zach Randolph than Wallace just because Wallace doesn't have a post game like Randolph.

His point was that if we trade RJ (like for Randolph), than we can sign Wallace to replace him. Then we'd have Randolph+Wallace, for example, if all works out. That would be a very good lineup IMO, but I'm not sure

    1)RJ will even be traded
2)Wallace will settle for 5 million a year.

It just depends if he wants to win.

Oh, in that case I would love to sign Gerald Wallace then. I forgot he was a free agent. [IMG]

He can go someone else, have a similar chance to win, and get a lot more money, so there's no "if he wants to win" situation here like he's an old guy just trying to get on a good team. He's going to take the best offer he can get.

Well then there's a good chance of him going to Orlando depending on what Charlotte is planning on doing.

The only problem is that while Orlando has shown interest in him, our prime targets this offseason are the following in order:

    1. Rashard Lewis
    2. Vince Carter
    3. Chauncey Billups
    4. Gerald Wallace

Depending on what Lewis asks for, signing Gerald Wallace and resigning Darko Milicic may be our best option. A lineup with Nelson/Ariza/Wallace/Darko/Dwight looks pretty good. It'll be interesting to see what the Magic do because it looks like they can only afford to sign one big name (like Lewis or Billups) or sign someone like Wallace or Blake and then resign Darko.

Must you come in here and tell us what the Magic are doing this off-season? [IMG]

Yes, since the decisions Orlando makes, can affect if we even have a chance at Wallace.

Oh and Swish, you might as well cross out Vince. All signs are pointing at him re-signing with us. His locker hasn't even been cleaned out, and from what I understand that says a lot.

[IMG] I was just saying that the Magic may have the most money but it doesn't necessarily mean we have the most interest in Gerald Wallace since they have enough to money to pursue top tier free agents. This means the Nets may have a better chance at landing Wallace through that sign and trade. See, it all relates back to New Jersey. [IMG]

EDIT: Yeah, I've heard that as well Kidd. Billups and Vince are most likely resigning which makes this offseason interesting for Orlando. We've been looking at Carter since we dealt Francis to the Knicks for Ariza and Penny's huge expiring contract. Our front office has always like him mainly because he's from around Orlando and would instantly sell tickets. I've also heard that Lewis really wants to play for one team in Texas (it hasn't been clear which one) and he's just using the Magic for leverage so the Sonics do a sign and trade and he can sign a bigger deal with his new team. If all of this is true, Gerald Wallace may just be in a Magic uniform next season.

Rumor is that Rashard wants to play in Houston since he's from there. That's the only team that can really make a push for him. It looks like VC is staying put and that prob. means attacking GWallace if Rashard has different interests.

Gerald Wallace is asking for way to much money, he isn't worth 14-16m. But, if you guys get him chepaer, it would be an excellent pick up.

I don't think he's worth that much either but isn't VC wanting like 16-18 also?

Honestly I think Gerald Wallace will ask in the 8-12 mil range, not the 14-16 mil.
