Where we are,we commit to winning or we say we got over .500 once-so now lets cut costs, and let the Lux Tax issue pull the wagon. If the latter is the case-Nellie may as well golf on Maui next winter and we may as well trade off Baron for some 2010 picks.

I find it odd that there's these things where one minute it's "we can't resign Ellis-Biedrins-Pietrus-whatever" then the next breath---lets trade everything and pay KG $22 mill and see if he opts out on us.

The last season we bought out 4-5 players and a coach. Total cost...perhaps about the same as the feared Lux Tax penalty we'd see before Foyle expires.

Monta as PG? With ONE YEAR of post HS experiance and no history at PG...Monta in fact played more PG than Jazzy who had been a PG star in Euroball. Monta tends to dribble chest high, which is fine going full sprint in the open. He has to lower that dribble 6-10" in traffic---as Baron does. J Rich and Pietrus also need to work on that-it's not that complicated.

A "big man" who is 6-10 or 7-0 yet plays like a 6-7 forward is not much of an addition. We need a guy who's BETTER than Al H as a rebounder,as an inside scorer. Otherwise we blew a draft pick on a different looking Dunleavy.
It's better to have a 6-7 guy who plays like 6-11 than a 6-11 guy who plays like 6-7. It's real sweet if you find a 6-11 guy who does both...but that's your 1-2 draft slots.

Ok I found the rotoworld text though I can't find the link:

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Monta Ellis - G - GS - Jun. 27 - 1:55 am et
A potential deal that would send Monta Ellis to the Hawks for the No. 11 or No. 3 pick is apparently dead.

Don Nelson may have offered up Ellis to see what kind of response he would get from the Hawks, but it's quite possible he was never serious. However, RotoWorld has heard rumors that the Warriors aren't thrilled about the maturity of Ellis, not to mention the people he has surrounded himself with on a personal level. That said, he's a future All-Star and the Warriors would be hard pressed to move him.

And the "robeson" from ww.net asked Tim Roye about it and here's what he had to say:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Whatever happened to the Monta Ellis who looks you in the eye and calls everybody "Sir"? Is the posse thing truly a problem? And, finally a question you might be able to answer without getting into trouble: How would you say Monta has changed now that he's been in the league for a couple of seasons?

    his response:
    [Robeson],
I think that Monta needs to grow up a little bit but remember he is only 2 years removed from high school. I think that his playoff performance did not help his cause as he did not play well. He will be fine but I think that this shows that anyone can be traded though I don't believe he is going to be moved for anything less than a top pick or in a package for a star like Garnett. Take Care and thanks for the update.
    Tim</div>

The fact that he didn't completely deny this and even slightly acknowledged it probably isn't good considering guys like Tim Roye, Barnett, Fitzgerald are such homers and trying to give us the positives all the time. This might have some truth to it, but again, take it with a grain of salt.

Ellis is a golden child, what's going on here? It's b.s. I say! The guy used to say "sir" to older folks and he has good work ethic. But then again, money changes people and to him things must be moving fast as hell... or it could just be the media getting out of whack yet again and causing a chain reaction of doubts about his character. Remember the flooding in New Orleans? That wasn't too long ago. One group was reported by a news entity to be "foraging" for food, while another news entity reported that a different looking group was thievishly "looting" a grocery store.

BTW, thanks to REREM's influence I'm now influenced to take Jason Smith over Tiago Splitter. I saw more of that guy and he looks pretty darn fast and skilled for a 7 footer. He could be the runner up prize for not being able to draft Yi. Is he a power forward or a center though? I hope he's fast enough to play power forward because then we can play him next to Beans if he works out for us okay. I mean when Nelson is gone and he probably will be in a few years or next year. I think Josh McRoberts could be a hit or miss, depending on how he is used. I do think he's a role player though and he's a bit of SF/PF tweener with skills more suited for power forward, but with the body of a big small forward (like a Tim Thomas or Keith Van Horn stuck-between-SF-PF type body).

Yeah if Smith's rebounding translates to the NBA that would be a good pick.

I know, I didn't pay attention to him much because he's in the MWC, but he looks really impressive inside and out and he's athletic. But you're right... we'll see if this all translates to the nba, which he has a chance to... To me, he's like any other athlete with a good skillset. Hopefully, there's heart and willingness to lay it all on the line, but the guy is still very young and probably far from polished.
