The Knicks could put a package together that included Jared Jeffries and Mardy Collins.</div> Latest from the draft rumor mill.

<div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Custodianrules2 may even shed a tear.</div> Which kind, Swish? Tears of laughter or tears of rage? I think I've shed them all when it comes to the matter of Foyle catching and trying to score while being unguarded, two feet away from the basket (on numerous occasions, especially on a 2nd putback after his own first two misses...). I was at the game personally two times last season and I recall Foyle blowing a wide open giveme dunk in one of those games. The other he had a putback layup blown twice in a row and several dropped passes. The crowd booed both times after he blew the wide open dunk and layup and I'm sure local telecasters Jim Barnett and Bob Fitzgerald were trying to downplay the sad attempt if I was at home watching tv instead. I know they used to do with Dunleavy Jr. There's no lessening that kind of shame as pro players. Foyle was kicking the scorer's table after the easy putback layup where his defender kind of gave up to avoid the touch foul, but Foyle kept missing and his defender got confident to get back into the play forcing Foyle to bobble the rebound and lose it off his own frying pan hands. Foyle is barely a basketball player now... He's a clumsy stiff who is uncoordinated outside of shotblocking. He was better before the injury and played a few games which made one believe he had something left in the tank. Montgomery probably hated this guy, but yet he continued to go with him instead of Beans or Ike... I don't understand it. Then add in Fisher and you got your worst small and big man who do nothing to do their jobs well. We can't get inside because Foyle sucks and can't catch and is mechanical and not that smart basketball-wise... we got Fisher who can't get inside or even pass the ball and he's not that smart basketball-wise as a point guard. 2004 offseason was so... bad...especially when also had Murphy and Dunleavy playing together healthy. Talk about downgrade defensively and offensively when we lose Clif Robinson in the post and Erick Dampier in the middle.

Doesn't surprise me though, who other than Isiah would take on Foyle's ridiculous contract?
It's hard to weigh in on that trade because I'm just not a huge fan of Jared Jeffries. The only moments I really liked him was when he gets offensive rebounds or when he came after Melo like a man possessed. Take that sucker puncher! Mardy Collins is all right from a standpoint of him being a decent role player, but he's not that exciting and I worry about him not being able to shoot.
Isaiah Thomas is actually an incompetent enough GM that he might actually make that trade. Heck, he might just give us a David Lee for Adonal Foyle swap if Mullin pressures him. Then Isaiah will hold a press conference saying how NY needed shot blocking, and they needed a guy to represent their Carribean fan base, and they got both in Foyle for cheap. Then, Isaiah will sign Foyle to a 5 year, 140 mils $$ extension...
Gosh, I was just watching some of the NBA Draft of 1997 on NBAtv. What a joke Adonal Foyle has become. Well first I should admit that previous statement is a little overboard. He came a long way from growing up on the Carribean and ending up in the NBA. But man, he turns down the shot to play for Duke and other top division one teams. He plays for Colgate against nobody. The Warriors pick him at number 8 though he's about 6-8 with no offensive game to speak of (they mentioned his poor free throw shooting when he got drafted too). It was kind of interesting the analysts did say that he is athletic and has a good body then. Unfortunately that isn't the case now. Now he is shooting half court shots during warm ups, sitting on the bench, and being paid 10 million dollars per season (or almost that) for the next few years. I have nothing against Adonal Foyle. Not everyone has that competitive spirit needed for sports. Most people probably lack such a spirit. But it kind of sucks how the Warriors have kept him around ten years after. And yeah, TMac going 9th doesn't help the cause. Having an extra spot on the bench and 9-10 million dollars off the cap for this season right now would be very nice. Anything for Adonal Foyle would be nice as long as there are no contracts that last as long as his is.
This past year Foyle was in much improved condition...somehow he improved his lobster claw hands and his famed fumbles/airballed layups were not there...as a reward he played so little they should have put him in the 3rd row so at least he could have some beer and popcorn while watching. Try harder...play better..play less. Not quite the message I'd want to send. By late season, strangely Biedrins was fumbling feeds and missing gimme shots. Being the only Warrior with any size within 10 ft of the rim meant defenses ganged up on him. With Nellie on a smallball crusade-Beans got no PF help or even relief from Foyle and POB playing some...so after mid season's big swap his "role" basically became a copy of the limited role Foyle had,and with no Murphy inside-he had to get all the bump and bang of a few 250 lb bigs untill he was pretty worn down. Had Nellie ever really learned to optimize a big man/center he'd be one of the greatest coaches of all..but he's so stubborn.
Jeffries is-thanks to Thomas,a bad contract---but longer. Collins failed to earn minutes on a pretty bad shipwreck of a team-so we'd be spending about the same for nothing-but Jeffries deal lingers longer--and we blow the pick we DESPERATELY need to use well to prevent losing because we were minus 20 on the boards. I'm not expecting a favorable goodbye Foyle deal. Most will be like this one...sucker deals. Collins steals a roster spot we'd want for Azubuike and Jefferies is mediocre...paid like Brian Cardinal and probably not quite as usable.

In 97, PJ considered very hard between Foyle and McGrady. But, since PJ was a big fan of veteran, PJ went for Foyle. The pain was supressed a bit when McGrady left Toronto for nothing. But, Mullin had to sign Foyle for godly 9 mils for 5 years, when Dampier had career year, and Foyle had horrendous contract year. I mean, having Dampier would be pretty bad thing as well, but at least we could use him unlike Foyle. Great guy, politician and poet... But 19 mils in two years remaining... wow...

I think Foyle is what he is, somebody we don't want to give the ball inside to or have him try to dunk or layup the ball. I feel like if we give this guy more minutes he's just going to frustrate any playmaker out there with a botched assist on the account of the receiver. He is useful somewhat on the glass because he weighs more and is stronger and his weakside shotblock skills are still very good. <div class="quote_poster">REREM Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> By late season, strangely Biedrins was fumbling feeds and missing gimme shots. Uncharacteristic of Beans, but totally in line with what Foyle would do. I was worried Foyle was rubbing off on Beans in practice. If Foyle could play a limited role that Beans was doing as 5th option in the starting rotation, that would be great, but man we're just not that lucky with how he dropped off in his most basic talent. He's not even 12th man material IMO. We might as well just send Josh Powell out there or Patrick O' Bust-if-nelson+staff-doesn't-develop-him-right. And I too agree that not having Murphy on the glass meant more energy being spent by the guards and small forwards to try and secure a defensive rebound. However, I do believe the tradeoff was that we were able to leak out a lot faster and come up with more steals and change the speed of the game (tempo). The Murphy and Harrington thing could have been a bit of a wash though. Let's say that the trade arguably improved inside/outside scoring, but we gave up consistent defensive rebounding, which we didn't do well as a team anyway. This was probably because our D sucked so much with both him and Dunleavy being sloths in the foot quickness department. I wish Nelly knew how to play a big man's game... We need somebody more well rounded that can play a fast game and a big man game. If we have more bigs, scoring the high % shot would just be so much easier for us... We could keep guys out of the lane by eating up more space inside.
