<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I was told today the Magic are in serious talks with the Hawks about their #11 pick. I hesitate to speculate the players involved, but my source told me he believes the Hawks have asked for Jameer Nelson. As I understood it, that may be what they asked for, but that may have been under the premise of the Hawks taking back more salary in exchange for the trade exception the Hawks received last year from the trade with the Pacers. According to another source of mine, he has heard that Otis is willing to trade any player on the Magic roster other than Dwight and Trevor. Darko can not be traded at this time, so I am assuming Darko has never been a part of any trade conversations since Otis is on record saying Darko is a priority for the Magic. According to my original source, he believed the Magic would make a deal with the Hawks if the player Otis covets falls to #11. -MagicConfid</div> The only link I have is a link to his forums where he posts these rumors occasionally. I've posted rumors from him before (he called the Darko deal) but he had been wrong a lot in the past (Diener for Mutumbo is just one example ). This guy claims to have a source within the organization and he is saying that we're going to trade Jameer and our trade exception (cash) to Atlanta for the #11 pick if the guy we want is available when that pick rolls around. Now, Otis has said in previous interviews he is content with where we are drafting and doesn't want to move up but we all know Otis. He says one things and does another (Francis deal? What Francis deal? Signing Keyon Dooling? Who?). If this is true, I'm pretty excited and I wonder what player we'd be going after. I'm assuming it's a point guard if we're dealing Jameer so maybe it's Acie Law? That'd be awesome because I'm in love with his game. He is a great scorer and was excellent in college. These next two nights should be interesting. What do you guys think of this deal? Yay or nay?
I really like Jammer Nelson and would be dissapointed to see him leave. But if we could get the pick AND a lil somethin extra i guess it wouldnt be to bad. Especially if my boy Acie Law or Jarvais Crittenton are on the board. If we have to part with Jameer and have to choose between Acie or Jarvais Crittenton though, i choose Acie Law. Sure Crittenton might be better in the longrun. But if we get rid of a starter we need to get someone who has proven themselves on the big stage and who has expierence, which are things Law posesses. At the number 11 position however, would any other magics fans eyes lightup besides my own if Al "The Freak Nasty" Thornton is sitting there waiting to be called??? I live about an hour away from FSU and i watch this guy constently. Hes gotta be the best scorer in the draft along with Durant and has the potential to be an Allstar. Now before you guys go crazy on me....what about Ariza?!?! lol Think about this. We trade jameer for number 11 pick. We draft Al Thornton. We then dont have to go after Lewis, or Gerald Wallace. And then we can compete with signing Chauncey Billups. what do you think of that?
Being a Gator fan it is really tough for me to say this, but Al Thornton is going to be a stud. He was really the only legit option the Noles had and has seen almost every single type of defense geared to stop him and he still scores in bunches. He is athletic as hell too. I certainly wouldn't cry if we drafted Thornton.

<div class="quote_poster">The Walrus Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">YES!!! A gator fan likes a Nole!! lol</div> Eh, I wouldn't go that far. I only say that because I can still look at the last 2 national championship rings while the Noles can look at their last 2 NIT seasons.

Jameer did not have a good year but he is certainly far from being a flop, if we trade him for a player who even could potentially flop it's a mistake. Also Acie Law was excellent in college, but the point is moot because Jameer was better. Jameer was the best college point guard this decade and if anyone cares to argue the point with me they WILL lose. Better to get Thornton than a PG and then compete for Billups.

He is a shoot first PG and we need either a pass first PG or a quality wing that can score(Nick Young/Thornton/knock on wood that Corey Brewer or Jeff Green falls) and sign someone like Steve Blake or Mo Williams with the money that is left over from resigning Darko.

<div class="quote_poster">The Walrus Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Or try and sign Billups like i said. lol</div> That's not likely unless we don't sign Darko. Seattle would be a much easier S&T because they are rebuilding(Shard), so they would want cap space and young players and draft picks. Detroit not so much. <div class="quote_poster">The Walrus Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">low blow dude. low blow. lol</div> You had to know that me complimenting a Nole could only go so far.

Cuz it hought we were plannin on signing Darko and Shard? sry all this draft buzz and rumors have gave me a bit of headache tryin to keep up. haha oh and can someone make me a killa al thornton sig ASAP. just for Gatorsowns enjoyment.

Billups and Gerald Wallace are more realistic options because they likely won't demand $15 mil a year like Shard, but I doubt Detroit or Charlotte would want to do a sign and trade with us to help us if we don't have the money. Seattle isn't under the cap and they are still rebuilding, so we could throw them some cap space to rebuild, while Detroit likely doesn't want cap space and likely aren't rebuilding(although if they lose Billups they possibly could) and Bobcats already have too much young talent and loads of cap space.

I wouldn't mind trading Jameer if it's for a lottery pick. Wasn't there a rumor that it would be like Carlos Arroyo for Golden State's draft pick?? Please someone clear this up.
Well it didn't happen. I'm actually glad that it didn't happen, I don't want to give up on Jameer yet, I'm excited to see how he performs under SVG.
I'm glad this didn't happen I think Jameer will have a bright future if he's given more freedom under SVG
