Earlier ESPN had picks filled out on the Warriors clubhouse page with the Warriors taking Spencer Hawes with their first pick. Has anyone else heard about this? Did a google search for espn warriors and hit their cached page, it shows Spencer Hawes at #18 and Arron Afflalo at #36.
I guess no link means the issue is not there anymore? It's probably a test page that went live maybe... No way Spencer Hawes falls that much. I can imagine a high ranked swing man or a point guard falling. All the losing teams want to go big and I don't blame them. But there could be several Gerald Green, Danny Granger, Jameer Nelson, Marcus Williams or Josh Smith type of situations where they just fall for being too safe or too much of unknown that ain't worth the risk for an immediate turn-around.
Hawes is too slow and is pretty much just a shooter. With us wasting a year of O'Bryant's life already, drafting another backup C even less suited to our needs would be crazy. Supposedly several lotto teams like Hawes. If they all bail out on him and he's dropped to 18...the reason might be that he's seen as pretty much a backup C,a poor man's Raef LaFrentz....and that's of no use to me.
