The Orlando Magic have traded a second round pick (54th overall) in the 2007 NBA Draft to the Houston Rockets in exchange for cash considerations, General Manager Otis Smith announced this afternoon.

So now we are only down to 1 pick(#44). Hopefully we got a pretty decent amount of money. I think this pretty much proves that we don't care about the draft this year and are focusing on FA. Think we sell pick #44 as well? Or do you think we are seriously contemplating Jameer for #11?

Strange, i just assumed the Jameer thing was a rumor. But i never understood how the money trade worked exactly. Cuz i mean there not giving us cap right? Just giving money to the organization?

Hopefully the money can get us Rashard AND Darko back. Does the money actually go to our cap room?? How much is it??

Yeah they are giving money to the organization. This does save us probably $333,000 for the players contract(assuming we wouldn't have drafted a foreigner).

It's undisclosed, so we don't know yet. This money goes in to like paying for coaches salary and doing things for the team, example is using it to take a FA out to dinner or to hang out around Orlando to show him that he wants to come.

That sounds good. Definitely one way to woo Rashard.

I'm assuming the amount is no more than 333,000 or 500,000 tbh. But it does save us from maybe using some cap space on a 2nd rounder. Hopefully we will see someone want to take Hedo Turkoglu or one of the expiring deals for next year from us to get some more cap space.

I also like Hedo, but if we can get someone to deal for Hedo and give us enough cap space to at least make a play at Shard I would be all for it. Although I think Seattle is going to S&T him wherever he goes, so Shard for JJ, future 1st, cap space galore for the next 2 seasons sounds like a good deal to me. [IMG] I say JJ because we probably would have to add in a young guy and I'm not too interested in giving up Ariza or Jameer if we can get rid of JJ.

Oh, your sig is sweeet if it was upside down, lol. As long as Thornton isn't dominating the Gators in your sig I'll be semi-happy. About time there was a Nole fan around here to give a bunch of crap too. [IMG]

I've heard Rashard isn't even considering coming to Orlando. He either wants to stay in Seattle and use us as a bargaining chip to raise his price or have the Sonics ship him to Houston in a sign and trade.

There was an article somewhere saying he wants to play in Texas and the Magic are just being used for him to get more money. I've heard he's interested in Houston and New York. I've also heard he's considering getting a new deal with the Sonics. I hope we can get him but I do know I'd much rather have Gerald Wallace and Darko Milicic than just Rashard Lewis because he's asking for a crazy amount of money.

Well if he's gonna do a S&T deal then we can get Darko and Shard. Give up the remaining cap space plus Dooling/Garrity/Arroyo combination and a young player with next years first should be enough to get the deal done.

btw, he'd rather play on the Knicks then Orlando? Maybe he needs to get his brain checked unless he doesn't put winning as a priority.

btw, someone on another board that I posted at mentioned that the cash could be going toward building a new arena. So it'd be a win-win for us selling 44 and 54 if it puts us in better position to build the new arena.

It's really old. It's one of the oldest arena's in the NBA right now. We want to get a newer styled arena.
