<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">RAPPER 50 Cent has suffered an embarrassing blow at the BET awards, when he was caught lip synching live on stage, watched by millions of people.

Entertainment site MediaTakeOut.com reports that 50 Cent was caught out from the beginning of his performance, after being ceremoniously lowered onto stage on a podium.

The What Up Gangsta rapper clearly lip synched the initial chorus to the hit song Amusement Park.

After the chorus ended, he tried to continue mouthing the songs lyrics. But unfortunately for 50, DJ Whoo Kidd played the instrumental version.

    Oops!

One person who worked the event told MediaTakeOut.com, "The whole thing was so embarrassing. To get caught like that in front of millions of people is almost unimaginable."

After this first embarrassment, the cringe-worthy performer increased the situation by walking around the stage seemingly aimlessly - all the while waiting for the song to re-cue.

G-Unit member Tony Yayo decided the best way to help the sinking song was to scream expletives into the microphone.

Witnesses said that when the record did eventually re-cue, 50 did all that he could to salvage his performance, but it was far too late at that point.

By then 50 appeared so shaken with embarrassment, that he cut things short.

Bizarrely, 50 finished the shortened set with the words, "Vitamin Water." An apparent reference to a new business venture worth about $US100M.

After the event, MediaTakeOut.com spoke to witnesses.

One audience member told the site "No one in the audience really knew what was going on. It just seemed like (50 Cent) cut the performance short ... But now that I know he was lip syncing, I think it's hilarious."</div>

Why would you want to lip synch rap? You've got to be lazy as hell to do that.

Rap music isn't that great live, most of it is on tape anyways since they have so many people rap with them.

Yeah, rap is mostly ad-libbed (I think that's the term...when you add two layers of vocals as opposed to just one single layer) vocals anyway. Even a "live" rap show has a backup rapper to do the adlibs or cover for the guy when he's out of breath (hence Tony Yayo being in a lot of 50's 'solo' performances). Not that shocking to me. I didn't find the Ashley Simpson one that surprising either. You really thought she would be able to sing live?

    Ad-libbing is improvisation.

Yeah, sorry, I got the terms confused. One of my old friends called it "ad-libbing" when he used to do multi-vocals so it kinda stuck with me.

Hahahahaha, busted! You can tell its all lip synched anyway, not by the fact he wasnt actually singing, but the audio quality is obviously alot cleaner and clearer than what you would be able to produce singing live.

BTW, is it just me, or has 50 gotten even bigger than he was before? The guy is jacked.

Of course he's jacked, he's on freakin' roids...I hope. He is a lot more jacked than he used to be, though.

ad libing is the voice you hear thats not the main vocals ie Jim Jones BALLLLINNN

But all of rap vocals are in lots of layers, which is why they sound so different live.

50 has just gone downhill. This is worse than Ashley Simpson.

Good question. Rapping is just talking. It's hard to watch live.
