With the addition of our three draft picks to the current roster, we currently have 18 players under contract. Obviously, the max a team is allowed to have in the NBA once the season begins is 15. Right now we really have our hands tied, we have no room to add players through free agency without unloading some of these guys off the roster. So my question to you is who is going to get traded? Well lets look at the big picture here for a second. Joe Smith and Alan Henderson are both free agents to be, assuming neither returns, we are now down to 16 players on the team. Of those 16 guys Louis Amundson looks to be the odd man out. Although, he had a couple nice games for us last season, I really don't think there is enough room for him to remain on this roster. So now we are at the league limit of 15 players. Now you start looking at some potential trade options, after last nights draft we are completely stacked on the wings. Young, Bobby Jones, Derrick Byars, Andre Iguodala, Rodney Carney, Kyle Korver that is six guys who are all capable of playing either SG/SF. Obviously, Thaddeus, Iguodala, and Byars are not going to be traded any time soon, but after that it is fair game. I think we have to look into the idea of trading Korver this off season, his value is at an all time high right now. Another guy I think we will here shopped around is Willie Green. His ability to play the point guard spot is really limited, and with all the new additions to the team its going to be tough for him to stay in the rotation at shooting guard. What does all this mean for Louis Williams? Where will his playing time come from? In conclusion I will just recap on who I think will be wearing a different uniform next year... Joe Smith Kyle Korver Willie Green Louis Amundson Alan Henderson Thoughts? Comments?
My list of who goes: Korver Amundson Henderson With all our wing players like you mentioned, I think Korver is really one dimensioned with his 3 point shooting but still has alot of value that teams would like. When it comes to Amundson and Henderson, I really found them just as fillers towards the end of the season. Joe Smith and Willie Green are two players I think Billy King still likes alot. Smith seemed to enjoy his stay here and I could def. see some kind of deal made. I also think Green showed light last year making him a solid part of this team.
Korvers 3 pt shot is so valuable, i would hate to see him get traded. He's a perfect scoring bench player that can light it up at any time, not to mention the sixers would have a crappy 3pt shooting team if we traded him. Joe Smith played really well for us last year and i wouldnt be surprised if we re signed him. The guys who should be gone are Henderson, Amundson, Carney, and bobby jones. The only way i would trade korver or green is if we get yi in return. Loius Williams needs to get some major PT next year. Im thinkin like 20 min a game. its obvious he can play he just needs the minutes to prove it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The guys who should be gone are Henderson, Amundson, Carney, and bobby jones.</div> Wow, what kind of logic is behind getting rid of a 1rst round pick that just came off his rookie year. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/alexgray23/NikeTalk/smh.gif"> I The 76ers have a lot of wing players, but no backup PG, and hardly any depth at the 4 and 5. Yet Billy King insists that he isn't finished. I wonder what kind of moves can he really make will all these players on the roster. Hopefully he can ship out somebody.
<div class="quote_poster">A.F. Venom Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> I'm not really a fan of getting rid of Kyle Korver either, what kind of consistent perimeter threat do the 76ers have without him? </div> We drafted two guys this year that were really great shooter at the college level. Thaddeus Young shot over 42% from three point range, while Byars shot 44% respectively. Although, the NBA three pointer is obviously longer than the one at the college level, having those two guys on the roster makes Korver expendable if the right deal comes along.
On any given night Korver has the ability to be the number 1 scoring option for this sixers team. If they trade him they better get something of very good value. The same goes for willie green. These guys are no slouches, they each have the ability to be solid starters for some team, or possibly sixth man of the year.
Right now it looks like we can field a team of guys that are 6'6" or 6'7". This obviously has to change before the start of the season. I'd expect Korver to be the odd man out. It doesn't look like we're trading Iguodala, and it's far too early to give up on Young and Carney. Korver's value will never be higher as his numbers are a bit bloated due to Iverson's departure last year. The loss of shooting could be filled easily by Carney, Young, Green, and Iguodala continues to improve his jumper also. If the right deal came along for a proven commodity at power forward for Iguodala, I'd like to think that we would at least consider the deal. If Steve Francis and Channing Frye could get you somebody that puts up 24 and 10 boards, then Iguodala certainly could get you something. Naturally this would be putting a ton of faith in Thaddeus Young to really develop into a star player for the future. In my own little dream world, it would be sweet to put a package together to make a run at a guy like Amare Stoudemire, who we saw on draft day could be traded. It probably would take Iguodala, Korver, and a guy like Steven Hunter or Dalembert to land a player of that caliber, but I'd like to attempt to bring someone like that in. Of course there's no chance that Billy King is creative enough to get something like that done. Realistically, it looks like we're going to trade Korver and Willie to bring in an average power forward. Korver, Green, Amundson, and Henderson will all be wearing a different uniform. As for Joe Smith, does the team really have any other options at the power forward spot? We really need to sign him as an insurance player in case we can't land someone in a trade.

There's no way that we'll be able to land Noah from Chicago. Although it would be nice to see Noah come here, the Bulls have no reason to trade him. The Bucks on the other hand might be willing to part with Yi if he continues to not show up. Honestly, lets hope that Billy King doesn't put our future on the table in exchange to get Yi. Milwaukee has some cap room, and they do need a point guard since Mo Williams is a free agent. Right now it seems like a Mo Williams (sign-and-trade) + Yi Jianlian for Andre Miller + Willie Green + possibly Carney or a pick as a very likely deal.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Mo Williams (sign-and-trade) + Yi Jianlian for Andre Miller + Willie Green + possibly Carney or a pick </div> That would be a great deal. I have no idea why the bucks took Yi. They should have taken a good sf. It would really solidify their team if they got miller to lead them. They would be a top 5 or 6 seed in the east i bet if they stay injury free. So hopefully we will be able to pry Yi from them.
Yeah to get Yi would be very nice. I don't know about losing Miller until Louis Williams is ready to run the team, but hey, I am all for it! A line up like this would cause quite a stir: PG - Louis Williams SG - Iggy / Thad / Carney SF - Thad / Carney / Iggy PF - Yi / Joe Smith / C - Daelembert / Hunter Add it the other rooks and it looks quite good!!!
Occasionally, you could run Smith and Yi together to cause some mismatches at the 3/4, and run the floor with two big bodies as well.
I really don't want to see Kyle Korver gone. He's one of my favorite players on the Sixers, and I really feel his three point shooting will be valuable for us next season. But if a right deal comes along that can help land us a solid big, he'd be gone in a heartbeat. Kyle Korver, Bobby Jones, and Willie Green should be shopped around this offseason. No way we trade Andre Iguodala, Rodney Carney, Thaddeus Young, or Derrick Byars. Btw, is it still possible to send Bobby Jones to the NBDL? Also, if a player is playing in the NBDL, he doesn't count as a roster spot, does he?
BRIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay anyway...I don't wanna see Kutcher Lite leave either, but we might have to deal him away if we wanna get a deal or two done.
We are way too stacked on the wing and so I agree with the rest of you that Korver needs to be shopped. These rookies are capable of shooting long range themselves, and with Korver gone we can get more playing time to Young and Carney.
Thing is Rodney Carney is an on-and-off player, trading Kyle Korver to make room for Carney is a bit risky for me. I don't like Carney really.
We haven't given Carney a chance yet, so the jury is still out on him at the moment imo. Anyone else wishing we had have kept Sefalosha instead of getting Carney!!! Just wondering.....
Oh, Amundson and Henderson will be gone. Just trying to work out who else we can chip off the roster. Maybe trade Korver and another and get one player back, preferably with some height and rebounding prowess!!!

Thabo had an incredible rookie season considering the playing time he was given in Chicago, he is an above average defender, with a solid offensive game. He looks like he is going to have a great career, this year we are going to find out if the same can be said about Carney.
