<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Charlotte Bobcats waived veteran point guard Brevin Knight today in a move that will save the team about $2.5 million next season.

A source familiar with the situation told the Observer the Bobcats are exercising a buy-out clause in Knight's contract. The team will pay Knight about $1.5 million to avoid a salary in excess of $4 million that Knight would have received for the 2007-08 season.

It's unclear how the Bobcats will replace Knight as the backup to starting point guard Raymond Felton. The Bobcats did not get a point guard in Thursday's NBA draft.</div>

That sucks for Knight, but good for a team like the Cavs who really need a PG. Even the Pistons could use a guy like Knight.

Wtf? He would've been one of the best backup PG's in the league. I have no idea why Charlotte let him go.

Yeah its definitely weird. I can understand them wanting to give the reigns to Felton but Knight gave them a lot of depth, veteran presence, etc. Seems like it was a move to help the cap, maybe they need the extra few mils to sign Wallace? You would imagine they asked if Golden State wanted him in the trade yesterday too since Charlotte was eating all of J-Rich's contract, but GS obviously wants the cap space too.

Maybe they wanted to convice Chauncey that they are dedicated to signing him and giving him big minutes. I think Billups would be great here, and would make them a contender in the east.

Chauncey would be a great addition but I don't see him going there. Brevin Knight was a real good PG and would have been a good backup like he was anyways. Felton was getting his minutes maybe they're showing Raymond that they are dedicated to him only.
