    Hey fellas,

A couple of us have put together a site to show JRich our appreciation. We are trying to raise enough money to take out a full page ad in a local newspaper to say thank you and wish Jason good luck in the rest of his career. This is the least we can do to say thanks to a player who showed us how much he appreciated our support.

    Visit the site here:

    Thanks,
    Travis

Just so no one flames you for spamming, I want to post that I'm giving approval to this. Run BJM's notifying shape of the thread for his approval, and he has the final say as Site Owner, but as far as I can see, this is a very cool NBA-related project and not spam.

J-Rich is the man, btw. I'm not a Warriors fan, but I'm a huge Michigan State fan, so I'm just as deeply connected to the guy as I'm sure most of you are. His days at Michigan State were the greatest. I remember one year about five or six years back, I was just a little high school kid who went to see him play in the NCAA tournament, and after the game was over he came up and sat with me and my friend and watched the rest of the tournament games. Not many players are that personable unfortunately.

Alright well this thread is officially approved. I love the idea personally, I love giving back to JR with an ad in the paper like he did for us. Its a good way to let him know how much we appreciated him and hate to see him go. I'll donate some money.

Just wondering, about how much would a full page ad cost? Is that something the Warriors community can realistically fund?

    Thanks for your understanding.

Jason Richardson exemplifies professionalism in athletics. His integrity and humility both on and off the court set an example for all public figures, not just those in the professional sports arena.

JRich is the kind of guy that your Dad likes just as much as you do. Class without decadence, flash without fluff. JRich brought home the monster dunks that intimidated even the boldest defenders and then put up the kind of smile that disarmed and lit up the entire arena. Needless to say, that's a rarity these days.

I wish he did stay in Golden State. He was there through the bad and good. Now he is traded away, I feel bad for him. But now, with an easier east, he can be free and play with young talent and hopefully go far.

my girlfriend works at an ad firm downtown and she is guessing it will be about 3k to get the space. we will look for someone to donate their time for the ad itself. we're also planning to challenge the organization and the players to match anything we come up with. thanks again for the support.

also, if you can think of a way to demonstrate to the fans that we're not trying to rip them off, your advice would be helpful. i think a lot of people are skeptical about donating. i would be. right now we're trying to get a quick blurb on a news site or tv channel so we can get some credibility.

If you want to get support elsewhere you should probably try to contract the owners or mods of other GS forums. Obviously a lot of GS fans will be skeptical of some guy just signing up for a forum asking for money. If you talk to mods and owners of other sites then they can actively support your cause and the masses of GS fans will trust that guy. Probably you should contact Del at Warriorsworld.net since everyone over there worships him and they have tons of GS fans. If he supports it and makes it an affiliate of that site you'll have tons of money coming in there. I don't know who the mods at RealgM and ESPN boards are but again, if you get their support the other GS fans should be more trusting and follow them.

I would have said to hit up the guys at Golden State of Mind as well but they seem to have gone insane because we didn't land Yi so no one likes them anymore. Also maybe you can call up KNBR or make a live call to Fitz and Brooks and get them to pimp your cause on the radio.

Maybe you could set up the account / fund through either the ad firm or the paper itself. That way, if some one wants to write a check, they make it out to "So and So Ad Firm" or "So and So Newspaper" -- although that'd probably be hard to coordinate...

I'd recommend confirming how much a one page ad really costs. Let's say it is $3000. Then, ask 300 people for $10 each. Set a time for everyone to meet at the arena wearing their J-Rich jerseys. Take a photo for the ad. How cool would that be? [IMG]
