Got this info from another message board. Numerous chinese sources believe he was actually born in 1984. At a certain primary school, students are assigned numbers in which their birth date numbers are included. His school ID number is 440301198410272713 Notice the 84-10-27. That is his birth date. http://www.gdsi.gov.cn/jsp/query/personque...13&&xzqh=441900 For those wondering at the motive. It is so he can compete in the youth league.

Man guys, don't sweat it. If he's 19, fine, that's just 3 more years extra years in the NBA. If he's 22, even better, that just shows that he's more mature on and off the court.

If you take a freshman you know he hasn't even scratched the surface of his potential yet, if you're taking a senior then the guy may be close to done developing and have a lower ceiling. I would say hes probably 22. From what I've heard his age got mysteriously changed a few years back and they cited it as a typo or something like that. China has admitted that tampering with players' ages is a problem (they're trying to get older guys on the various U18 teams and whatnot). Logic tells me that they're full of it and that he is in fact the original age as listed.
^ Exactly, theres a lot of difference in the amount someone can develop at age 19 and 22. But hes definitely not like 25, 19 or 22 seems reasonable.
Nobody knows his real age, nobody every will I reckon. Chinese people lie about there age so they can play in younger divisions. Im pretty sure Yi has lied about his age and will never tell anybody how old he really is. Yi says he is 19, but nobody will no for sure if he is lying or not (He most likely is) But NBA.com says he is 19.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Age discrepancy Questions surround his real birthdate, as his official passport and hukou in China have him listed as being born on October 27, 1987. However, it has been rumored that his date of birth may have been intentionally falsified so he could play in junior competitions. The estimates of his birth year are between 1981 and 1984.[citation needed] In 2004, he was listed as being born in 1984 in China's Four Nation Tournament,[15] although authorities said it was only a "typo". NBA draft site DraftExpress.com also listed him as being born in 1984. A news reporter from WEEI in Boston, Mickey Adams, who can speak Mandarin and Cantonese can confirm in private conversations that Yi is not really sure how old he is but believes he was born in 1984 because of a baby picture of himself with a newspaper dated December 29, 1984 in the background.[16] The Houston Chronicle's Fran Blinebury reported that Yi told Shane Battier he was 24 in an exhibition game before the 2006 FIBA World Championship.[17] If this statement were true, it would place Yi's year of birth in either 1981 or 1982 (the 2006 Worlds were held in August and September, before Yi's listed birth date of October 27). However, a Chinese newspaper reported that Battier disavowed the comment attributed to him.[citation needed]Yi has gone on record saying that he did not talk to Battier about his age and that he was born in 1987 and that anyone saying anything else would be slandering him.[citation needed </div> Nice read, I think he is 24~

Either way if his real age is really covered up by the Chinese sporting bodies, wouldn't they have been more thorough than to leave all this "evidence"?
