<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">We want to be active,' GM Colangelo says of looming free agency The NBA free agency season is more about selling than buying and Bryan Colangelo and his merry band of cohorts will be in full-on schmooze mode late tonight. They will have phones at the ready and speeches all prepared, they may have trinkets like personalized highlight videos and books ready to lay on the players they most covet among the 10 or so they've identified as priorities. </div> Source: The Toronto Star I'm so happy to hear this. That Colangelo wanta to move quickley and get who he wants. Chances are he gets that guy we need, because Colangelo gets what he wants.
Yea, I read that article. Found this part particularly interesting: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"Sometimes in free agency you have to over-pay and we're willing to over-pay if we feel like we're going to get the right player," he said. "What we keep talking about is consistency at the small forward position, but we want to add the best possible player."</div> That seems to point to Pietrus, IMO. And I think he'll give fewer years for more money to maintain our financial flexibility.

Until then, team personnel is prohibited from discussing free agents. However, one free agent who isn't in the NBA appears to be off the Mavericks' chart. Honestly, I'm getting the same feeling that I had just before Villanueva was traded last offseason and its all revolving around Jose Calderon.
Interesting potential move. How many potential 2/3 guards do we need though? What about a third PG prospect or something of that nature. Maybe Ukic is coming this year? It's either now or never considering we lose his rights. Is it time to change the slogan to "give us all your euro"?
I really like (love) Theodoros Papaloukas and I think his position would be pg with the raptors. But if memory serves I think he has an impossible buyout moreover he is content playing with cska moscow. He has a fat contract 4.5 million euros a year and is under contract until 2008. I would imagine that he doesn't come to the nba unless a team is willing to offer him 6-7 mil and negotiate an expensive buyout with cska moscow. I would of taken him over Jason Kapono any day, more over signing him would of allowed us the opportunity to trade either TJ ford or Jose Calderon.
