At first I was a critic of the young man. He's small, undersized and would seem like another John Lucas clone. But after finding this video, I've learned that Lucas can't touch Brooks on his worst day. Aaron Brooks has more heart than Lucas and any other PG currently on our team. He's got a pretty nice jumper, and I liked how he drives to the hoop. Great player, I am ok that we got him, but that wasn't our need. Hopefully V-Span/Lucas gets cut or traded.
For some weird reason, physically, he just reminds me of Rafer Alston Watched a couple of videos of him and I like what I see. The thing is, V-Span probably won't be a Rocket for sure next season. First, we trade for Mike James, then to add injury to insult, we draft ANOTHER PG. So V-Span has Rafer, Aaron and Mike to worry about in terms of playing time. So much for that.
With the exception of Almond and Fernandez, I never expected the 26th pick to get anyone who could contribute right away when given NBA minutes. I do like this pick. One of these PGs in James, Brookes, Span, and Lucas have to pan out next season. Under Adelman, they all have a shot. I wonder if Brookes will be sent to the D-League. I know JVG doesn't believe in it.
