I'm so pumped. I've been looking forward to today more than the Draft and Finals. This could make our break our team for the next decade. Our first priority should be resigning Darko. Next, we should go after Gerald Wallace. Then finish our offseason by bringing in Brevin Knight or Steve Blake. That'd be the perfect offseason.

Well we have to figure out what we are doing with Darko before we do anything, because he is a restricted FA and he has a large cap hold that would make it impossible to sign anyone until we either a) resign him or [IMG] renounce him and let him be an unrestricted FA.

We'll we've already offered him a contract, hopefully it's not too much and he signs. Also, Rashard Lewis has said that the contract he is looking for is $80 million over 6 years. He wants at least $10 million this year because that's how much he would have made with Seattle had he not opted out. That's a bit pricey for me, especially when someone like Gerald Wallace is available (who can score and defend) for much cheaper. I say we get Darko back and then heavily pursue Wallace.

Damn July is here already! I really want Gerald Wallace to come to Orlando. Hopefully Otis Smith will do the right thing. I'm really excited about next season.

We offered Darko the qualifying offer of $6,810,302 for 1 year. It doesn't mean much. We had to offer him that before FA started if we want to keep his restricted FA status. I'm expecting us to offer him a slightly larger contract for many years. I think we'd offer him something starting at 7-7.5 mil and increasing 10% every year for 5 years.

That would look something like.... I'm not quite sure if it's 10% each year or 10% off the base for each year. Parentheses are 10% off the base.

    1st year-7 million
    2nd year-7.7 million
    3rd year-8.47 million(8.4 mil)
    4th year-9.317 million(9.1 mil)
    5th year-10.248 million(9.8 mil)
    For a total: 42.375 mil(42 mil)

So 5 years for 42 mil(for an avg of 8.4 mil a year)

    or

    1st year-7.5 million
    2nd year-8.25 million
    3rd year-9.075 million(9 mil)
    4th year-9.9825 million(9.75 mil)
    5th year-10.98075 million(10.5 mil)
    For a total: 45,788,250(45 mil)

So 5 years for 45 mil(for an avg of 9 mil a year)

I think both are fair deals for him and it still helps us out in FA by only counting for approximately half of our cap room.

That's what sticks out for me. As long as have enough to sign Gerald Wallace, or at least another FA besides Darko, it's fair to me. lol

What do you guys think abot Jameer Nelson and Trevor Ariza though? I mean arent their rookie contracts gonna expire soon, and I'm sure thers gonna be tons of teams wanting them. But by then were not gonna have a lot of cap if we sign all these big names.

You think we should save some cap for them in the future, or just part ways?

I don't think they will get big deals, but we will have their bird rights and can offer an extension and go over the cap to do that. It's just a matter of whether the owners want to pay over the luxury tax, but we did after the Tmac trade, so I don't see why we wouldn't pay a little over it. Jameer will likely get no more than the MLE and Ariza might get a similar deal to what Cuttino Mobley had(6-8 mil for 5 years)

We just gave Trevor a contract extension last season.

Rashard's agent has said Orlando is the best fit so now it's on Otis to make something happen. In my opinion, you're sig is looking pretty accurate right about now.

Ariza still has a player option after next season, so I'm assuming that he will get out of it, because I'm sure a team will pay more than 2.9 mil a year for his services and will give him a long term deal. So he's basically a FA after this year, IMO.

The bold is the key. I'd wait before I say something is accurate. We gotta make a deal intriguing enough to a team rebuilding around Kevin Durant.

He need him back. I mean the guy is a good backup and could be a future starter.

So him and Jameer are free agents after next season. I don't think we should bring back Jameer unless he comes cheap (since him and Dwight are friends). Trevor should definitely be brought back though. I love his game and the kid has tons of potential.

Right now the only players we have under contract for next year are Hedo(6.8 mil), Battie(5.7 mil), and Bogans(2.9 mil). Dwight will likely sign his extension. Trevor Ariza has a player option for 2.9 mil. We have a team option for JJ Redick for 2.1 mil. The qualifying offer on Jameer Nelson(what we would have to offer him in order to keep his restricted status) is 2.8 mil. Arroyo, Garrity, Dooling, and Augustine expire to make 12.1 expiring after this season.

That should cover everything on our current players.

I see Turkoglu's contract getting traded to free up some room. But Seattle wouldn't be a good fit.

Wow, none of those expiring players are really important either. How much cap room will we have next season? Enough to pursue someone like Gilbert Arenas?
