<div class="quote_poster">AlleyOop Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope this doesn't happen. To me, right now Mullin looks like a genius for what he's done to improve the roster (granted he has been correcting his OWN mistakes, and granted Nellie has been a good influence for personnel). I'm just worried that Mully will be high on his current success, and let it go to his head that he needs to shock the NBA world by getting Garnett.

On the surface it's a sexy move because it's such a block buster, but just like in chess, sometimes the best move is the quietest. If Mully goes for the checkmate right now, he's just going to sacrifice his pieces but come up short, and be left with his defenses down. Better to just secure the fort, and wait for the right opening to come along.

The fans might not be enamored with NO moves, especially if Phoenix gets Garnett somehow. But he MUST hold off, IMO, and preserve the future.</div>

Love the Chess analogy....set up the Sicilian Defense and wait for the novice to make the inevitable blunder. Even if KG was here 2 years....Biedrins-Ellis-POB-Wright can be here 10 EACH.

Biedrins had just under 10 rbd..KG had 12...so if we swapped those--we gain LESS than we lost replacing J Rich with Marco B. Ellis + Harrington added up to 32 pt a game. KG + nobody was just over 20.

In most scenarios....KG incoming involves us at least losing our new gained capspace and there's the ever present threat Hudson/Madsen come attached like you buy a hound and you get the fleas---except we pay for $5-10 mill worth of fleas.

No way I trade Biedrins and Ellis. That's the core right there. I would trade Ellis and Wright though.

Thing to remember about KG though, he's a great guy, always committed and injury free (great watch I just jinxed him). Even if he's 31, he may play for another 7-8 years at a high level, Moses Malone started at 18 and he played for 20 years.

Baron and KG may not equal a championship, but it sure puts the Warriors in play, which is all we can ask, especially after the prior 13 years.

I read that KG and Nash are not a good fit because KG does not run as well as Stoudamire, I find that hard to believe that they would not mesh.

If we're getting KG, talk about serious risk... would he even want to stay? How would he get along with Nelly? But I guess in that scenario at least we keep our starting center. I must admit Biedrins is overrated at times, but he's pretty good for a big guy that's so young. He's only going to get better, especially if he gets stronger and not lighter and lighter like Nelly wants him to be. He needs to be a balanced weight where he can still retain his quickness and agility and not get bounced around.

Even as a fan, from an entertainment perspective, I'm not sold on this trade. Ellis and Biedrins have been two of the most exciting reasons to even watch a W's game. They're fan favorites. If nothing else, we all want to watch these two guys develop together, grow together, win together. How awesome would it be in 10 years to have THOSE two guys as our veteran core, mentoring the young players and winning championships.... I know it's fanciful, but to me that's a more meaningful storyline then just cashing in and getting KG here for a few years, then bye bye. Wooptie friggn doo -- It really doesn't do much for me. I'd rather roll the dice with our young, exciting duo and come up short. No matter what it will be a more compelling ride, IMO...

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Hammering out KG deal

Talks between Minnesota and Golden State about a trade that would send Kevin Garnett to the Bay Area are real and advanced, according to a person involved in the discussions. But it's too early to say whether No. 8 pick Brandan Wright, reigning "most improved player" Monta Ellis and an assortment of fat and/or expiring contracts will be enough. Wright can't be traded for 30 days because he signed his rookie contract Friday ... Isiah Thomas so far is refusing to include David Lee in a Ron Artest trade. "No chance," a person with knowledge of the situation said ... Derek Fisher's interest in playing for the Knicks so he can be close to the best care for his infant daughter, who has a rare form of eye cancer, is not necessarily shared by the Knicks. The Lakers are a more realistic suitor.</div>http://www.newsday.com/search/ny-spberger0...,1235838.column

I don't think it's going to happen. Why? Because nothing ever does happen with the way Mullin moves. I expect any moves to be sudden and unexpected. Like Richardson to the Bobcats for instance and the Baron Davis trade where maybe a few forum people brought it online before any of the news writers were talking about the speculation.

That bench sounds kind of thin, but hey we get two franchise players. and two big rebounders in the starting lineup. We'd probably have to hire another center and a point guard.

Im sure mullin is looking to make some kind of big move since he got rid of J-Rich and opened some space on the payroll but trading the future core for a year of or if he wants 2 years of kg wont guarantee anything except the fact that we have an actual big man for once and MAYBE if all works as dreamed by everyone we'll make a playoff run i still think the future of the guys that are proposed to be traded are too much to gamble on and let them go for an aging superstar that we are unsure to even have for a decent amount of years to keep on the team but by the looks of things something is going to happen with the roster
