Steve Blake? Why would the Lakers do this? Steve Blake is at best an okay PG, we all know that. He's nothing special as a playmaker, he really tries on defense but doesn't have the strength or athleticism to really do that well there. He's not bad, but he's not good, and with the Lakers weak help defense behind him, he'll be below average for them. Overall in his career he's been below average defensively, though being average at some points. His catch and shoot three ball was good in Washington and Portland but last year he shot poorly. His scoring isn't efficient because he can't do too much inside the arc or finish and draw fouls inside much. He's a decent passer, but this is the triangle, and he's fine for a PG, but not really a special playmaker in any way.

Steve Blake is the wrong player for the Lakers to be going after from how I look at it, especially with them already having PG's. If you want a PG at a good price range that works in the triangle, Charlie Bell would make more sense. He's more of a SG, but he can handle the ball and set up the offense, defends very well at PG, can create for himself, and has a nice three point shot.
