<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Bobcats face heavy competition in their effort to re-sign leading scorer Gerald Wallace.

The Bobcats were one of eight teams that contacted Wallace when the NBA's free agency period began at midnight Saturday. Dallas, Orlando, Milwaukee, <u>Detroit</u>, Miami, Portland and Golden State all made inquiries, a person close to Wallace said Sunday.

The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the subject, said Wallace hasn't agreed to a deal with any team.

Bobcats part-owner Michael Jordan said last week that re-signing Wallace was one of the team's top offseason priorities. Bobcats vice president of basketball operations Bernie Bickerstaff did not immediately return a phone call Sunday.

Wallace averaged 18.1 points and 7.2 rebounds a game last season, when he made just over $5.5 million. He opted out of the final year of his contract, which would have paid him about $6 million, to become an unrestricted free agent. Wallace could command more than $10 million a season in a deal that could run as long as six years.</div>

Average? Ok, we are talking about the best fantasy player ever. He puts up stats in every catagory. Block, Points, Steals, Asst, he is effiecient and can light it up. Athletic and worth the money. Maybe not Max, but the Pistons would love a guy like Wallace at the SF postion.

Best fantasy player ever he is not and it's not even close. Like I said, average player on a bad team so yeah he's going to fill up the stat sheet. Put him on a good team and his numbers will plummet.

I wouldnt say he is average by any means, although trying to prove a point through fantasy value is pretty inane.

Definitely above average, just doesn't get hyped as much as others. If you don't want him, I am sure other teams will!!! G Wallace is a great defender and a great hustle guy. His scoring is quite good and he rebounds well for his size. Someone will pay some pretty good dollars for his services this off season!!

How would the Pistons get him anyways? I don't think they have cap, do they? Especially after re-signing Billups, if he did for 60 mil.

Gerald Wallace is very, very good. Not an All-Star, but sort of an Adrei Kirilenko type, a stat stuffer for sure.

He may not be a franchise player, but he's certainly the sort of player who can put the right team over the top. I suspect Cleveland will push hard for him. Hopefully, he doesn't sign with them, because that's an example of a team he wouldn't help much. Stick him in with Golden State, Portland, San Antonio, though... he'd be awesome.

In fact, if San Antonio has the money, I wouldn't be surprised if they make an unexpected move and snatch up Wallace. Bruce is getting mighty old to be tripping and diving, and Wallace is the kind of guy who could step right in.

I was thinking the same thing. And if the Bobcats were to work out a S&T, who would the Pistons trade? I just don't see it happening, although he would a be a nice fit here.

    PG: Billups (If he resigns)
    SG: Hamilton
    SF: G-Wall
    PF: Prince
    C: Sheed

I don't see him going back to the Bobcats actually. The guy is above average and is a great defender and solid offensive player. A lot of teams are interested and the Pistons should try to acquire him if they possibly can. Many teams will be asking for him and some will overpay for him but that's not the first time a team has overpayed for a player.

I don't kno about a lot better. AK and GForce have had their fare share of injury concerns in the past. They both are very similar.

Wallace, I much rather have the AK47. Wallace is more consistent on offence and a little less average defender the AK, but still good none the less. Good for the Pistons if they can get him.

i think if wallace stays on the bobcats he can make a push for the allstar team. With J-rich there to take the defense's attention he will get easier looks and ways to the basket. The bobcats don't realyl have a go to scorer but now that is Richardson. Wallace and Okarfor should be second options not firsts like they were asked to be in charlotte, Wallace's stats (scoring as well) SHOULD go up if he stays in Charlotte. Dude averged 7 boards with a team with Okarfor who is a top rebounder in the league so he is good rebounder, he is an excellent defender ( he averged 2 steals and averged 2 blocks and steals a season ago) He has nice size and is only 24, 25 when the season starts. I think the only thing that needs to improve is his turnovers (2 a game) but i think which ever team he goes to he will be a great help given the minutes
