I can't watch the video (slow computer) but I heard about this video, he's talking up Zack Randolph right? Can someone post some things that he says?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NEW YORK, June 29, 2007 -- There's no doubt Knicks captain Stephon Marbury is excited to have Zach Randolph joining his team.

In his first comments since the Thursday night's trade that brought Randolph, Fred Jones, Dan Dickau and the draft rights to Demetris Nichols to the Knicks, an enthusiastic Marbury couldn’t contain his excitement during his "Starbury's Give Back Day" event at Coney Island.

Here is a transcript of what Marbury said to the media and fans on Saturday:

"Did y'all see we got Zach Randolph? Did anybody see that? Did anybody see the move Isiah pulled off for the New York Knicks?

"We got Zach Randolph, so now we have a beast down low that we can throw the ball to. He brings finesse. He brings a jumper. He brings everything. He can play 94 feet and can go from end line to end line and do whatever he wants to do. You can't teach that.

"It’s unbelievable! You already know what it is. I don't have to tell you. Eddy Curry on one side and a left-handed southpaw on the other side. You’re thinking he's shooting right, but he's really shooting left, and you can't beat that. I expect we play better than what we played last year. It's a power move.

"We got a younger player in Zach Randolph. He will follow suit by the leaders put forth in front of him. He will follow suit. Eddy and I are the leaders of the team. This is Eddy Curry's team, not Steph's team. This is Eddy Curry's team, and we all have to understand that. Jim Brown once said to me, 'Stephon, Kobe's got Shaquille O'Neal on his team. All you have to do is throw him the ball and he will tear the rim down for you every time. Why do you have to get mad at him? All you're gonna do is win championships if you really want it.'" </div>

^Funny how they don't mention him saying, "we got a younger youthier player".

So I don't see what's so hilarious about what he said. Zach Randolph really is a low post scoring beast, not like Steph said anything about the dude's defense. Funny how people always say Marbury is so selfish, all he does is think about himself. Now he is praising his teammates, like he has many times before, yet people still decide to ridicule him. I guess that's just how things work [IMG]

    That's a very astute observation and I agree 100%.

I've always been a fan of Steph whether people think he is selfish or not. However, what he said really was stupid... youthier isn't even a word, and youth means the same thing as young...

It's not serious at all. We're all just commenting on how stupid he sounded in that statement. This is the offseason and the signing period hasn't begun yet, there isn't much else to talk about besides rumors.

He might sound stupid but he's sort of right. Zach Randolph is a huge addition. Hopefully him and Starbury don't get into any kind of trouble.

Hmmm, interviews really aren't for him.

And just so it's clear, I was laughing at how he <u>sounded</u> during the previous interview.

I came into this thread expecting some drunk rabbling comments with several profanities mixed in. That video really wasn't bad at all? It just sounded like he was one of the guys discussing his favorite team. I don't see an issue with that video.

I wonder how Channing Frye feels though, draft night the trade is announced everyone including your teammate David Lee cheers. Now Marbury comes out with this, it has to hurt.

Probably. I think he'll do good, but as far as making the playoffs I'm still not seeing them doing it. Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph down low is really intimidating though.

The Knicks could have made the playoffs had they stayed healthy in the final two months of the season. Zach Randolph will only make us better.
