http://www.miamiherald.com/611/story/158756.html Not sure if offering Shaq gets it done. But guaranteed it gets Minnesota's attention. Shaq doesn't fit if you are convinced you are rebuilding, as the Wolves seem to be. But Shaq fits if you are convinced Shaq is the building, that with him you can win now. Maybe Kevin McHale could be convinced..... ...Maybe the Heat throws in Dorell Wright and a draft pick. Nothing more than a paper doing a "Steve Wonders". For the ultimate ego rush......accolade.....if Shaq were to come to MN (which won't happen) and they make it to the playoffs (which Shaq has said that he can't fathom having to struggle to make it) and have some kind of success. He could say that he has made a significant difference where ever he's been and everyone would have to admit that he came to a team with nothing look at what he's done.
I certainly wouldn't do it for the Twolves. Shaq doesn't have that many years left and he has been on the decline the last several. When was the last time he played a full season? I could possibly see it if they had drafted a young PF that they hope that could learn from Shaq, but they don't really have that on their roster.
<div class="quote_poster">babybulls Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">It would absolutely never happen</div> agreed who's been getting high and thinking this stuff up? No chance in HELL Shaq would play in Minny....no chance....zip
If McHale is smart, which some evidence suggests he isn't, he wouldn't want Shaquille O'Neal. Shaq at 35/36 has been lugging 370+ lbs around for so long, his body can't wait to break down again. And he's making twenty million per, is he not? When you ditch the nostalgia and the specter of what Shaq was, you realize what he is is one of the NBA's most nightmarish contracts going forward.
What If Minny got him (which they wont) And released him. Can you imagine all that cap room! They could get whatever player they wanted.

The only thing they could do is offer him a large buyout(like $40-50 mil range at the least), but I doubt they do that.
