The Raptors' decision to shower Jason Kapono with free agent riches, while not addressing Bryan Colangelo's oft-stated intention of improving the club's overall athleticism, has to bring a twinkle to the eye of coach Sam Mitchell. For the team's bread-and-butter play, a high screen set by Chris Bosh for T.J. Ford, Mitchell can now plant the NBA's most effective three-point shooter in one corner, the emerging Andrea Bargnani on the perimeter and Anthony Parker on another side, giving the Raptors three solid outside shooters to augment Bosh and Ford. </div> Source: The Toronto Star I think this is great that we have 3 snipers that can fill it up. Imagine: PG - Ford SG - Parker SF - Kapono PF - Bosh C- Bargnani We have the passer with a jumper, the inside presence with a jump shot, a 7 footer who can shot, a slasher who can also shoot and a pure 3-point shooter. Sounds good to me.
But then we get abused on the defensive end. I read this article in the morning and didn't think much of it. It's just Doug Smith towing the company line again.
As it stands, it's not going to look pretty when we have to play defense or rebound. I really hope BC has a plan to get someone better to start at SF but it seems like he signed Kapono to start.
