In THE RECORD, Al Iannazzone writes "the Nets' hierarchy couldn't talk about Vince Carter agreeing on a new contract, but had plenty to say about its newest player, comparing him to an athletic forward who's gone but not forgotten. Meet Sean Williams, the new Kenyon Martin." </div>

I would love for him to turn into our new K-Mart. Seriously doubt it will happen, and for some reason, I feel Coach Frank wouldn't give him consistent minutes the first few months. Sometimes I feel like he's taking lessons from Larry Brown.

We really won't need offense from him like we did with Martin, but if he can be our defensive stopper, we won't be abused by every skilled big man.

He will never be the dunker that K-mart was, but i'm sure he can work off the oops. The big things that they need out of him are going to be his defense. He already has great help-side ability but he needs to work on his one-on-one defensive skills.

Perfect pick for the nets. This is the exact type of player that they needed. If he can get consistant minutes, hopefully he will be a force on the glass and defensive ends.

Will he be at all rusty because he was kicked off his team?

^^ i don't thinkso cause of his style of play. He might be a bit out of shape, but conditioning was never much of an issue for him in college and its not like he will be seeing ridiculous minutes right away anyway

I heard of these compassions before. I think he could ift the role defensively, but I'm not sure he will be as big of an offensive threat as K-Mart was. Let's just see how many minutes he gets, then we could see who he really plays like.

I can see Sean becoming a 6/4/1.2 player for us in his rookie season, if he gets around 18 mpg. Don't expect much right off the bat, he's still only 20 years old. Most of his contribution will obviously have to be on the defensive end, since we're set on offense with two great scorers in RJ and VC, a scoring big man in Nenad and a couple of shooters off the bench (Nachbar, Mikki (up to 20 feet if he stays), House (if he stays) and Marcus and Hassan who can shoot decent as well). If he can box out the other team's PF and block some shots, he'll be doing his job this season.

I just can't wait till Bosh takes it at Williams every time. While he is a good defensive player to a point, he doesn't have the lateral quickness like Bosh or Howard have, but I think he can be solid.

Williams has good lateral quickness, more so than Howard I would say, it's the he's not smart enough on defense right now to guard a guy like Bosh. Unless he makes some real strides, that's not who New Jersey will put on Bosh when they have Jason Collins on the team.
