Rumors. Spurs could be buying Tau Ceramica, the team that Luis Scola and Tiago Splitter play for currently. This would now make two farm systems the Spurs own, after buying the NBDL's Austin Toros if it happend. Unfair advantage or smart business?

Will this be allowed by the NBA? I can see concerns with this becoming a possible conflict of interest. I remember the NBA wouldn't allow Isiah Thomas to work for a team until he gave up ownership to the CBA. If there is no rule to prohibit the purchase, then yes, it's an ingenius move by the Spurs and I'm sure other teams will follow their lead.
I'ts not a first. One of Miami's owners, Raanan Katz, owns Maccabi Tel Aviv. Sure, it strengthens the relationship between both clubs, and it gives a bigger budget to the smaller club (in this case Tau). It's not like the Spurs will be able to call up a player from Tau anytime they want to, so it's not a major thing.

They also get the benefit of putting their coaching system in place, and have control over the development of prospects. Huge long-term advantage for the Spurs if they make this trade. Thanks for the info on the Heat and Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Like I said it was just a rumor and isn't happening I'm sure mainly because although it provides some advantages, there's not enough of them for the price you pay to get the team and costs in running it.
