Found this and thought it was very interesting: <div class="quote_poster">Quoting "bhatta":</div><div class="quote_post">Contrary to what Kobe may want to believe and what Ric Bucher has said, Kobe cannot sit-out the season because of this cluase in the CBA. I knew there was something in there about this, but it took me a few days to find the exact clause. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CBA Rule Section 3. Withholding Services. A player who withholds playing services called for by a Player Contract for more than thirty (30) days after the start of the last Season covered by his Player Contract shall be deemed not to have ?complet[ed] his Player Contract by rendering the playing services called for thereunder.? Accordingly, such a player shall not be a Veteran Free Agent and shall not be entitled to negotiate or sign a Player Contract with any other professional basketball team unless and until the Team for which the player last played expressly agrees otherwise. </div> http://nbpa.com/cba_articles/article-XI.php Should Kobe sit-out these two seasons and continue pouting, as Ric Bucher allegedly says he will, after 30 days into the 08-09 season, the Lakers will have all the power in determining whether he gets to play in another city or not. So if Kobe really does want to sit out and "never wear a Lakers jersey again" the Lakers could, by rule in the CBA, say "fine, then you'll never wear ANY jersey again."</div> Ric Bucher... where are you?
wow, I doubt he ever would I think he would rather go out and hog the ball, try and dunk on a few people or score 100 points? Wouldn't you if you were Kobe?

Wasn't this just speculation on Bucher's part? I don't remember Kobe ever threatening to sit out. I'm glad the NBA has a rule in place, but I just can't imagine Kobe holding out on the season.
Kobe holding out would be a totally dumb move on his part. I can't see him holding out either. I dont think he would be that "CHILDISH" to hold off especially during his PRIME years.
Bucher is a prick, he had no evidence that Kobe was even planning on holding out. It's time for him to take his life, now that everything he has bet his life on...has became false.
He would sit out though I think, if the rules allowed. What do you mean he would not be that CHILDISH? THe guy argued for a trade BEFORE he had even played an NBA game!!! I think he will end up staying though, because no one can REALLY find a fair and even deal.

His agent and Sonny Vaccaro where the one's threatening the Hornets. Kobe was only 17 at the time, his handler's where the ones calling the shots. I agree with you though, if he did decide to sit out now, it would be childish and a slap in the face to his supporters. There's no "Strength & Honor" in sitting out a season.
My apologies!! It was a while ago, but all I can remember reading was that Kobe dictates he will not play for anyone other than the Lakers!!! This will all settle down I am sure and the season will kick off with KB24 in Lakers colours.

We'll have to see what happens.
