I like to point out that Steve Nash’s stats are indeed inflated due to ball possessions (but I do respect him as a player). I’m not a LeBron fan and he did play poorly in the finals, but I do also recall that he was battling through a bad foot this season (IIRC) and he is still quite young and has had his moments (especially last year with that historic regular season run). I don’t like it when people choose to ignore empirical facts. 2. The luxury tax is killing the league and making the owners complacent (such as Donald Sterling from the LA Clippers). If one could get rid of this obnoxious tax, the league should also look into making trades easier to pull off (don‘t make teams have to match up salaries). David Stern is also screwing up the ratings and not marketing the league as well as he should. The NBA would probably benefit more (rating-wise) if it had some more national exposure and if the NBA reseeded after every round or at least after the second round in the post-season. 3. My favorite player ever is Kobe, so I would unfortunately have to start following a new team; but in that case I would still continue to casually follow the Lakers and root for them.</p> <div class="quote_poster">J_Ray Wrote</div> <div class="quote_post">First question 1. Around May last year, I was looking for an LA Lakers forum and I found JBB on Google. Then I joined this site a month later. 3. I’m pretty good at fantasy football (although during the NFL season I don‘t always have time to update my roster and such). Generally I try to draft either Peyton Manning (healthy every year and the most consistent player) or top-tier running backs. Then, if I need more running backs I actually try to go after the Frank Gore / Deuce McAllister types in the 4th/5th/later rounds (sleepers).</p> <div class="quote_poster">Chutney Wrote</div> <div class="quote_post">1. Definitely Oden, because more often than not the Big Man should always have precedence over a swing/perimeter player. It is also easier to find a very solid 3/2 in this league than a Franchise center. 2. NFL, easily. 3. I like Pizza, Cuban/Hispanic food, and a good steak every once in a while (though I try to watch what I eat so I don’t get to eat these foods very much).</p> <div class="quote_poster">MrJ Wrote</div> <div class="quote_post">1. He took more three pointers per game on almost the same percentage as Houston, and was a better FT shooter. Allen also has the single season three-point shooting record… 3. Not a chance because I am about to make as much money as I need to live a comfortable upper-middle class life. I was astonished but I am still more impressed by the Maverick game. I was also glad he stole the headlines away from that boring AFC Championship game earlier in the day. 3. Jordan is better but I don’t think Kobe is that far off. His stats were messed up earlier in his career because Shaq had to get his exorbitant amount of touches (though I understand why that had to occur).</p> <div class="quote_poster">Umair Wrote</div> <div class="quote_post">1. Howard is great for a 21 year old but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going to exponentially improve (e.g. LeBron regressed a bit this season). Since Yao will be about 31 in 5 years (meaning he‘ll be just a bit past his Prime or might have to deal with injuries on a more consistent basis), whereas Howard will be about 26, I’ll take Howard. 2. Engaging in long debates because they are fun. 3. I like “rugged” cars that can handle various types of terrain (off-road etc.). Actually, no, I still respect them. I understand that they did a poor job on Kobe that night but the man also has had 4 other 50 point games in only three quarters. That was just his day to shine. 3. Just out of sheer intuition, I will say he will be just under (or barely) an All-Star caliber center. He certainly doesn’t seem like the next Kareem though. 2. Not many others. At the moment I find myself agreeing with Ric Bucher and his perspective on Kobe. He is right when he points out that Michael Jordan would do anything he had too to win (listen to a recent pod cast of him in the Lakers forum: <a href="http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71776" target="_blank">http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71776</a>) and wasn’t such a great guy himself. My favorite statistical sites are basketball-reference, knickerblogger, and 82games (because they have clutch stats and other random stats like that). Although basketball-reference usually has everything I need. 2.I think David Stern needs to focus on the teams already in the US/Canada. As previously stated, the Cavs/Spurs Finals was the worst rated NBA Finals of all time and marketed poorly. I feel that the League will become diluted if Stern tried to expand in spite of the serious issues present today. 3. I’m fond of the official JBB articles posted by fellow JBB members. Wade has also missed over 20 games already in two seasons. I feel his ferocious slashing style will take a toll on his body; he injured his shoulder against the Blazers because he was going to the hoop and then aggravated it against the Rockets. 2. I’d tell him to go else where. The Lakers will have KG/Kobe/Walton and then who? They can’t win a title like that, I wouldn’t want to waste KG and Kobe’s time. 3.
