<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> July 4, 2007 -- Rashard Lewis is off the table, Ron Artest is on the block, and Isiah Thomas must decide if it's worth trading David Lee to the Kings to put his former Indiana star on the Knicks. With Lewis agreeing in principle to sign with the under-the-salary-cap Magic, Thomas can concentrate his sights and trade assets on a run at Artest, who played three seasons for Thomas in Indiana but now is being shopped in Sacramento. Thomas, who negotiated with Lewis' agent July 1, also has spoken to the Kings about Artest. Lewis' signing in Orlando is a double blow to the Knicks, who could be fighting it out with the Magic for a final playoff seed. Orlando made the playoffs last season, in the eighth slot. When Artest was peddled by Indiana 18 months ago, the Knicks had tepid interest. Thomas had a brief conversation with Pacers president Donnie Walsh and told him he wasn't willing to give up any of his young players. The conversation ended there. Times have changed. The Knicks are in a different place following the Zach Randolph trade. The organization believes it is not that far away from competing for the conference title in the awful East and is willing to part with a young player or two. They now boast as much talent as any Knicks team since the 1998-99 version that went to the NBA Finals. The Knicks always could wait on Artest, 27, until next summer, when he may opt out of his contract for 2008-09. Artest is on record saying in his final days in Indiana he didn't care where he was traded, he'd still opt out in 2008 to sign with the Knicks. Thomas is comfortable with his roster, but said Monday, "I don't consider this a finished product by any stretch." "Let it be known Ron loves Isiah, always has," Artest's agent, Mark Ste- vens, told The Post yesterday. "Being a Knick, that's his childhood dream. He's a New Yorker. We'll see if it happens." </div> Source: NY Post
I would love Artest in NYK, but I don't want to see David Lee go and do Sac really want another player at the forward position if Isiah does make Lee expendable?
Bring Artes back to NY to his family where he will be scared to do anything stupid. Our line up could look sick with him: PG Jamal Craw/Dick (Marbury needs to be benched after his crazy ****!) SG Ron Artes/Jones/Q/Craw/Nate/Dmetirues SF Balkman/Q/Jeffries/Chandler PF Zach Attack/Morris C Fat ass/Fat boy James we will be loaded!
I don't think it's a matter of whether you guys can or can not acquire him, more of should you? I already think you guys are going to have enough ego issues with a foursome of Crawford/Marbury/Randolph/Curry, and it would only worsen if you add Artest. The guy is a headcase and has had issues everywhere he goes. You guys may be able to, but should you want to?

I'd pay big money to go inside a locker room filled with Zach Randolph, Ron Artest, Nate Robinson, Stephon Marbury, and all the other big egos

However, in that matter, with how much he gets in trouble, I wouldn't doubt to see him have a bunch of issues in New York. He's had issues everywhere else he's gone, why would New York be any different? However, I'm more worried about him on the court. He's not the most responsive player in the world and he's always had temper issues. Plus, again, you have to worry about the ego part. He's going to want to be one of the top guys no matter where he goes, and New York won't change that. And seeing has how you have four other guys on your team that expect to see a lot of touches, I just don't see how it'll work. Look at it this way. You have Eddy Curry, a 20ppg scorer that's going to expect probably at least 15 shots per game. Marbury is going to be looking to get his as well. Plus Randolph is coming from a place where he was the man offense and will be looking to get his. Crawford, in order for him to be effective, has to have a large volume of shots on most nights as well. Then throw in Artest, who again, is going to need to get his shots too. You'd have five people, all looking to get their 15 shots a night, and that's not going to work. No other player on the team is going to get a shot. This would cause huge chemistry issues and you'd have at least one or two unhappy players out of this. Bringing in Artest is the last thing you want to do. Plus, you already have one headcase in Randolph, why add another?

Crawford at the point NO Ron at the SG NO and Isiah seems to like starting Jeffries at the SF because he made the stupid mistake of signing him even though I would like to see Balkman at the SF spot. After listening to the points Moo2k4 made I think I would rather keep Lee than have Artest it's just too risky, seriously in an ideal world I would love him but I can't see it panning out for the better. Another point to add would be that Marbury seems to have accepted that he will only be taking a few shots as in that interview he mentioned he would be averaging 10ppg but also stated 12+ assists!!!, I doubt it will happen but you never know?
Artest will be great for the Knicks he plays great defense but he does have a lot of problems and having Zach attack and does other guys in the same team is to risky. Plus could Isiah come up with a good trade to get Artest.
Artest is what the Knicks needs, a DEFENDER! He can guard almsot anyone, while rapping. So, the New York Scene has record companies, so Artest should love it in NYC.
ISIAH NOT WILLING TO DEAL LEE FOR ARTEST <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> July 7, 2007 -- David Lee is off the table. If the Knicks are to obtain Ron Artest in a summer package, they'll have to do it without Lee being included in the package. According to a person with knowledge of the situation, Knick president Isiah Thomas has not made Lee available in talks with Sacramento, nor will he in potential future talks. That would seem to decrease the chances of the Knicks putting together a strong-enough package to get Artest, especially since Kings GM Geoff Petrie is considered a stubborn negotiator. The Knicks would likely only pony up Lee in a deal for Kobe Bryant or Kevin Garnett. Lee, who averaged a double-double (10.7, 10.4) last season, is a leading candidate for Sixth Man of the Year. However, Lee's minutes are expected to drop next season with the addition of starting power forward Zach Randolph. Although he rarely started, Lee got many of his minutes at power forward for the ineffective Channing Frye, now a Blazer. </div> Link
