<div class="quote_poster">The Walrus Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">He has a point, but I dont think he's got a right to take it out on an entire culture. I mean the guys has lived in the three whitest places on Earth.

Australia,Utah, and Milwaukee. Wow it must be tough for him. What a ghetto lifestyle he has had to overcome.

Do i agree with him, yeah sorta. But I'm a fan and can say w/e I want. However....Andrew, Don't call out your teamates/fellow workers which is essentially what hes doing. And don't insult the league, especially when its the one paying you.</div>
What does where Bogut has lived and skin color have to do with whether he has viewed hardship or not? That's pretty much backwards prejudice on your part. I agree with Bogut's statement. It's 100% true. And mainstream hip hop IS to blame. Not hip hop in general. But the mainstream type that teenagers listen to. And I have to repeat what's being black or white have to do with anything? Not every black player came from urban neighborhoods. A good portion of them actually were brought up in the same way and in the same neighborhoods as white folks. I'm a hip hop fan myself. But I just like the beats from the new hip hop era, not necessarily the lyrics or the music videos. But anyway, look at the league, how many players that did not personify or embody hip hop consistently commit crimes? I'd say very few at best. You can even look at the ratios because most of the league is influenced by hip-hop so the observations would more than likely be skewed.

Edit: I only agree with Bogut's criticism of the league, but not his generalization of American culture.

<div class="quote_poster">Rock4life Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Whether or not they spin it to be good or bad, it's a reality. I'm not hear to justify mainstream hiphop. I'm just saying that some of you are isolating rap as the primary problem for today's youth. When in all actuality, it's the parents that aren't raising their children. Music is music. But you can't hold 50 Cent acountable for some kid goin on a tirade. Same for the NBA........</div>
Parents can only do so much. There comes to a point when media is to blame. At young ages, kids absorb things very quickly and easily and without questioning it really. The only way the parents can prevent this is by sheltering them from the world. Is that good parenting? The rapper MIMS pretty much describes all of hip hop with this one statement in his hit song "This Is Why I'm Hot":

    "This is why I'm hot
    I don't gotta rap
I can sell a mill saying nothing on the track"

Basically most of hip hop sounds the same nowadays. Just throw in a good beat and say stupid **** that you think will catch people's attention. They have disgraced the pioneers of hip hop.

Everything is blamed on hip hop...whatever.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"A lot of (NBA players) get caught up in the hype and do video clips with rappers and all that crap,"</div>
Really? I'd be interested in who he is talking about. And who cares who shows up in a video? Is that hurting anybody?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"The public's got it right — a lot of NBA stars are arrogant and like to spend lots of money and have lots of girlfriends and all that,"</div>
Why would I care how many girlfriends a NBA player has?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I would never want my child to be brought up in an environment like that, where if you have money you're supposed to flaunt it and make everyone jealous," he said, the newspaper reported. "The American attitude is 'We're the best'. That's why the NBA guys who come from other countries, the Europeans, all sort of stick together away from the game.</div>
Why not buy nice things if you have the money to do so? If thats flaunting so be it.

I have to agree.....What does all that have to do with what a player chooses to do with his life?

SO WHAT if this nba guys want to be like rappers or wanna spend theyre money like them. I dont agree w/ his comments i believe theres somethings that you should keep to yourself dumb things like the comments he just said, why does he even care about it i bet he has some teammates that want to be just like that (bling and be in rap videos and have the coolest rides) im sure theyre not gonna like this comments. i bet you if 50 cent or jay-z invites him to be on one of his vids he'd innmeadiately say yes.
