<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Perovic deal appears imminent Janny Hu, Chronicle Staff Writer Wednesday, July 4, 2007 Golden State is close to finalizing a multi-year deal with Kosta Perovic, last summer's second-round pick, according to agent Bill Duffy. Though logistical details still need to be finalized with Perovic's Serbian club team, the 7-foot-2 center appears all but set to join the Warriors for training camp in October. "We're in good shape," Duffy said. Perovic met with team officials, including coach Don Nelson, last week in Oakland before returning to Europe. He averaged 10.8 points and 6.3 rebounds for BC Partizan this past season. Perovic, who figures to back up center Andris Biedrins, should provide the Warriors' frontcourt some much-needed depth. No. 8 pick Brandan Wright, free-agent forward Josh Powell and second-rounder Stephane Lasme are among those competing for roster spots. The Warriors also could revisit buyout talks with seldom-used center Adonal Foyle, who has a guaranteed two years and a $19.6 million left on his contract. Briefly: Happy Walters, the agent for forward Mickael Pietrus, said he has been in contact with a half-dozen teams in the early days of free agency. Though nothing appears imminent, Walters sounded open to the possibility of a sign-and-trade with one of Pietrus' suitors. ... In addition to all their draft picks and incumbents Patrick O'Bryant, Kelenna Azubuike and Powell, former UCLA swingman Toby Bailey, Iowa's Pierre Pierce and Harvard's Brian Cusworth were added to the Warriors' summer-league team. All games will be shown on NBA.com.</div> http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...&type=printable Interesting. I thought he'd be the odd man out, or at least be left overseas for a few years. But dude is 7'2", and you can't teach that. He's supposed to be a good passer out of the post and to have a good touch around the basket. We'll see. I think the more activity we have with our own big men, the less likely we'll be going after KG. Right now, we have: Beans, POB, Wright, Kosta, Powell, and Lasme. Oh and Foyle. But as far as the prospects -- there's enough raw talent there to find at least two good starters in the post. It's exciting to see what Kosta can bring. I wonder if this means he'll be on the roster for the regular season, or will he do summer league and then go back overseas? http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/kostaperovic.asp
I'm having such a hard time seeing Perovic getting any playing time. From the scouting I've read, his athleticism is passable for the center position, and passable just doesn't cut it in this system. And for someone 7'2", he's a godawful rebounder. We'll see..... (don't mention herbert hill again. don't mention herbert hill again. don't mention herbert hill again)
Awesome...not the news on Perovic...but the mention that NBA.com will webcast all the summer league games.
I'm holding my breath on Perovic. J/k. Apparently, he's like the 3rd or 4th center compared to Big Z on nbadraft. Remember Martynas Andriskevicous(?) a f-it we'll call him "m-cabbages". Then there's also Curtis Borchardt. Let's just say if Perovic plays at the same level as a healthy Curtis Borchardt, I'll be happy. There was this one Utah game where he and AK47 and Greg Ostertag(?) were just blocking the crap out of everything. I can't remember the total numbers, but he and AK47 must have had 7 blocks or more a piece. They were just shutting down everything inside including multiple 2nd chance points.

It's a shame that he could never get into playing health with his legs I think or maybe back(?) I am interested in anyone who is 7-2 for a basketball team.
