But for one relatively quiet holiday, some momentum swung the Bulls' way in the wooing of Andres Nocioni.

As one of only three teams with significant cap room now that the Orlando Magic has reached an oral agreement with Rashard Lewis, the Memphis Grizzlies are weighing their options with interest in Nocioni as well as Cavaliers restricted free agent Anderson Varejao.

The longer the Grizzlies wait, however, the more attractive a Bulls offer that already is on the table could become.

A source said the Bulls' five-year offer starts near $6.3 million to $6.4 million for the first season. Factoring in a 10.5 percent increase of the first season's salary annually, the total package sits at approximately $38.1 million to $38.7 million.</div>

Sounds like a fair offer to me. He does a little bit of everything for this team and I'm glad that Paxson is looking to resign him and not lowballing his value in the process.

He'd be a great resigning for the Bulls and it is a great contract. Don't count the Magic out though if the S&T goes through they will get hopefully around 8-9 mil of cap and Darko/Noc/AV would likely be the targets for all of the cap.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">New Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace flew roughly 5,236 miles from Memphis to Buenos Aires to woo Andres Nocioni personally in his native Argentina.

All indications are the Grizzlies won't go the extra mile with their checkbook.

Barring an unforeseen change of philosophy, league sources said, the Grizzlies, who have made an oral offer not much better than the Bulls' written offer, wouldn't increase the money in their pursuit of Nocioni.

While nothing is official until Nocioni pens his signature, all signs point to the hustling forward accepting Bulls general manager John Paxson's five-year deal worth nearly $38 million, perhaps within days.</div>

    Chicago Tribune -
Andres Nocioni has agreed to a five-year contract worth approximately $38 million, keeping the popular forward with the team that vowed to re-sign him.

The contract can't be signed until the free-agent moratorium ends July 11. But general manager John Paxson confirmed a deal is in place.

Sources told the Tribune that the contract includes a team option for a sixth season.

Earlier Friday, Paxson confirmed that the team was optimistic about their chances.</div>

I'm not registered for the Tribune, so I can't post the exact link, but this is from the RealGM Wiretap.

Good signing, way to go Paxson. He was solid for them, and will help them in the future, he is so key off the bench, I'm glad he is back.

It is definitely official and the shameful thing is how almost everyone on here disagreed with me that he would be back despite the reports I gave from the area. CSN just reported all of the details and indeed Nocioni will be back next season. He was reported to be extremely happy that they want him back not to mention the offer they've given him. He has vowed to remain a Bull the rest of his career.

Love the resigning. I'm extremely happy to have him back on board. He's definitely going to be a big part of the future for the Bulls and gives us a great forward tandem of Deng/Nocioni.

Good deal for the Bulls. He'll be worth every penny of this contract.

Great that we got him back. Hopefully he's healthy for the start of next season and doesn't play like he did in the playoffs.

I love how its a front loaded contract. Is Paxson the only one in the NBA doing this? Seems like it is...

Nocioni is one of my favourite Bulls players. Absolutely logical resign for the Bulls. Good luck in the next season !
