<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LOS ANGELES, July 6 (AP)-- Although he didn't rescind his trade request, Kobe Bryant softened his stance somewhat Thursday night, saying he had apologized to Los Angeles Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak in person for the way he handled his upset feelings five weeks ago.

"I just felt like as a man, it was important for me to tell him, `I'm sorry it came out that way,''' Bryant said at a lightly attended news conference at Loyola Marymount, where he spoke mainly about his camp for youngsters at the school this week.

Bryant said that while he could have called Kupchak, it was important he speak with him face-to-face.

"I was frustrated, I was venting,'' Bryant said.

When asked whether he still wanted out, Bryant replied: "I haven't thought about that in a long, long time. I've kind of stepped away from that. I've concentrated on Team USA. What I say is what I say. We'll just have to see where it goes.''</div>

Good to hear Kobe isn't letting his frustration speak for him.

I'm glad he manned up and apologized. The front office may have lied to him about the direction the team was taking, but to be humble enough to apologize about what he said is a +1 in my book. Maybe Flea's blog opened his eyes. who knows... haha We need someone to compliment him. I'm still crossing my fingers that we can bring a big name like KG in before the season starts.

Have fun being confident, I'm convinced our roster opening day is going to be:

    Charlie Bell/Javaris Crittenton/Jordan Farmar
    Kobe Bryant/Maurice Evans/Sasha Vujacic
    Luke Walton/Vladimir Radmanovic
    Lamar Odom/Ronnie Turiaf/Brian Cook
    Andrew Bynum/Kwame Brown/Ronnie Turiaf

    At best, 8th seed homie!

Id be happy with Bell... i think if we stay clear of the injury bug we'd at least be the 6th seed

We won't even have Charlie Bell on our roster. The management has already said they couldn't afford Steve Blake, Charlie Bell should demand even more money IMO.

Anyways, it's good to see Kobe being a man and apologizing. As stupid as Mitch really is, I kind of feel bad for the guy. Sure, he has made tons of mistakes in the past, and he is incredibly stupid, but nobody knows how many of his moves, or "no moves," have been a direct order from the Buss family. Mitch could be taking tons of blame for something he doesn't even have control of
