Lions coach arrested for DWN

    That's driving while nude.

He has been arrested twice in the last 2 weeks. On most normal teams, its the players with the rap sheet.

disclaimer: no disrespect intended to Ted Nugent with the Subject heading.

If you had to coach for a team that was 21-59 over the last 5 seasons, and things werent looking any better this year, you woul dget drunk and drive nude too.

    Got this from ProFootballTalk.com

LIONS SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WHAT THEY WERE GETTING IN CULLEN

In its report regarding the recent arrests of Lions defensive line coach Joe "Lady Godiva" Cullen, the Detroit Free Press explains that the Lions didn't bother to call Mississippi Athletic Director Pete Boone for a reference, which likely would have alerted the Lions to Cullen's March 2005 arrest for public intoxication.

Though the Lions won't say whether they knew about Cullen's history, they clearly should have. Even without making a phone call to Pete Boone.

As it turns out, all the team needed to do was search the Internet, which would have revealed that Cullen was actually fired by Mississippi after his arrest -- and that he then sued the school for $434,000.

A basic search also would have revealed that Cullen was reprimanded in 2003 by the University of Indiana for going Bob Knight on one of his players.

So the Lions knew and stupidly hired Cullen anyway, or they stupidly didn't know. Either way, it's an inexcusable outcome for a team that when hiring personnel in the future might want to invest in, say, a roulette wheel.

Cullen will walk away from this like nothing happened and will be heard mumbling "What's a guy gotta do to get fired around here?"

If Matt can get away with publicly calling people in the organization "devout cowards" and question whether they have "testicles"' then call out another man a faggot in public with several witnesses and not even get as much as a hand slap, then Cullen should feel safe with his job for what he did.

Millen sets the example and others follow. Should anyone be surprised something like this would happen, especially when the organization doesn't do background checks or references?

I see Millen has pulled Cullen's photo off the Lions website. You guys think this might hurt his chances at Executive of the Year?

When Millen was first hired, I said (in all seriousness) that the Lions would have been better off hiring ME to run their front office.

    I stand by that assessment.

I guess Cullen got "the Cat Scratch Fever" He probably would rather have people see him in a mug shot then a Lions team photo. lol
