No doubt that I am going to watch much more Magic games this year than I ever have but I'm definitely not going to be pulling for them to win the Eastern Conference unless somehow they are able to do a trade to bring in Flip Murray. That being said you guys paid too much for Sweet Lew. As good as he is he isn't worth a max contract. You probably could have gotten him for at least 5 million less than you offered but considering that would force Otis Smith to actually negotiate and work hard I am not surprised he was offered the max. He should be able to put up All-Star caliber numbers for 3 of the 5 years that you signed him but the Sweet Lew/Dwight Howard combination will only be devastating when Dwight Howard lays off of the weights and starts making shots that don't require his hands making contact with the rim. Any menacing combination has to get at least 45-50 points between them. At this stage in their careers I don't know if they can consistently get 40 points between them. It is truly a big year for both of them but they got a pretty good coach that I believe will get the most out of them-although I imagine that he will not be too fond of Sweet Lew's lack of rebounding and selective defense.
