Ben Gordon revealed Friday he has left agent Billy Ceisler for Raymond Brothers.

Gordon's move, which hasn't cleared the players' association office yet, comes as his window for a long-term contract extension opens this summer.

Gordon, as is his nature, smiled slyly and stayed quiet as reporters attempted to gauge his asking price. Neither his deal nor Luol Deng's needs to be extended because the Bulls own both players' rights through the 2008-09 season and already have exercised fourth-year options on them.

Sources familiar with the negotiation said general manager John Paxson front-loaded Andres Nocioni's five-year contract. This move was done in the hope extensions can be reached with Gordon and Deng, both of whom should command big money.</div>

Didn't he just do this a couple months, maybe a year ago?

I wonder if Gordon and Deng's contract talks will focus a lot on who gets paid more. Sounds like Deng's getting offered more and Gordon's not happy about it.

Or he's pissed that he didn't get the media attention that Deng got in the playoffs. While everyone was loving Deng I heard an annoucer say that he was pushing 6'0 when he's listed at 6'3. I think Gordon wants to be the star here or anywhere else if he has to go there. This next year should be a good year for both players if they want that big money contract. Paxson resigning Noc is a good sign that he's going to get something done with the other players.

On a business stand point Gordon's public relations are terrible sometimes. His interviews are terrible because he seems so scared of the camera. Whereas Deng was Mr. Congeniality and has a good story about being an African refugee, which is cool.

I don't think Paxson really cares about that kind of stuff though. If he gets something done with both players this season he's resigned almost everyone he's put stock into. GM of the year if he can manage that and have it work.

I remember him firing his agent, not sure if he ever got a new one after.

I don't think he ever hired a new one when he was going to switch before.

Several league sources said Ben Gordon is contemplating leaving longtime agent Billy Ceisler for David Falk. A spokesman for the players association said no paperwork had been filed, but one source said that a deal is done.

Gordon wouldn't comment, and Falk didn't respond to a phone message left at his office in Washington D.C. [READ]</div>

I guess he never hired Falk.

Well, at least Gordon doesn't have to make his own decisions. I think know, his agent needs to try and get a 2 year deal down, with a team option because I know Paxson isn't to high on Gordon, so if Gordon doesn't like it in Chicago, then he can go else where.

Paxson loves Gordon and all the other guys he has drafted. Rumors have it that Gordon and Skiles have had some problems, but nothing has ever been confirmed. Gordon is going to be looking for a long term deal probably four to six years.

I wonder where you get your sources from as it has been clear as day for everyone else here that Paxson covets four specific players and Ben Gordon happens to be one of them. He doesn't want to trade him, which is why deals have never gone through in the transfer market involving him despite the rumors. Gordon also apparently loves this city and has been quoted as saying, "I remember when we started 0-9 most teams would've lost fans, but our fans just kept coming in. I've never seen that before and that was an amazing thing to see every night selling out each game. I would like to play here and be a Bull for the rest of my career." Take that as you will since basketball players are known to be full of crap.

Ya, if I find that article where I read it, I'm sure I have read it that Paxson had some problems, but no matter. I want Gordon in Chicago, he was made for the Bulls. Long term would be good for him and the Bulls, I can see him becoming a great SG.

Paxson has no problems with any of his core players.

Alright, if you say so. I just want Gordon to become the next elite SG in Chicago since MJ.

People outside the Chicagoland area don't even get half the coverage we do of the team, so it isn't uncommon to be a bit out of it. You can get much more information by reading Chicagoland newspapers/websites such as the Chicago Tribune or Sun Times sports section. These are the most common, but they'll help you keep up a bit with what's going on over here although you won't get to read or hear as many of the private stories of the players. That's how we do things in Chicago and that's why many people don't want to leave once they play here. This is a bit of a private city with a lot of pride. Also from a realistic and professional standpoint, don't put Gordon on the same pedistal as Jordan because that isn't going to happen. There is no 'next Jordan.' Think of Ben Gordon as the first Ben Gordon. He needs to make a name for himself, not live up to a standard set almost a decade ago within a different style of play in the league.
