I like Rondo, and Telfairs ok....but I dont like either as a full time starter. I feel the celtics biggest weakness now is PG at the starter.
Id be interested to hear who you guys think coul dbe the best starting pg for the C's and why?

Rondo was the starter at the end of last year, and I think Doc and Danny think the world of him. I think he's the starter next year and for years to come.

For what it's worth though, he's done a horrible job of leading the Celtics' young players out in Vegas. I watched the Spurs game the other night, and he had almost as many turnovers (7) as points (10), and he only finished with one dime. That's in 30 minutes of action too.

Summer League play doesn't mean anything in the bigger picture, but I still don't like what I've seen from him so far. He's not the heady, cerebral type of point guard that the Celtics should have running the show. They should probably use their MLE towards a veteran point guard closer in age to Allen and Pierce.

For younger players who are somewhat established, the Celtics use the summer league to work on things that are glaring weaknesses in their games. Last year, Al Jefferson looked terrible in the summer league because of that reason as well. The only thing I take out of summer league games and box scores is the play of the rookies, because they are the only ones who are able to play without limitations.

What was the glaring weakness Rondo was working on?

He looked like he couldn't even control the tempo out there.

I didn't see the game but I heard they wanted him to have a shoot first mentality in the summer league because he needs to become more of a consistent shooting threat so defenders won't gamble off of him. I heard it was obvious by his form that he's been working on his shooting, but he was having confidence issues and was tentative when it came to jacking it up. He was getting himself into situations where he had to make quick decisions and was trying to force things into happening that weren't there.

By the way, I do agree that the team would benefit from a veteran point guard, but I also have enough confidence in Rondo to get the job done if he stays in the role.

    a vet for sure

Does any one think you could trade Telfair for a decent veteran PG? Doesnt have to be a starter, but some one who could step in and control the tempo.

If thats an option, who could we get for Telfair? Is Dickau still around? Brevin Knight? Steve Blake?

Brevin Knight would be a great idea for you, but Rondo is the guy who will start this season.
    a) I don't think you will trade or sign any other PG
[IMG] I think the staff see Rondo as the future
    c) Telfair is done I think. I hope not, I hope he can make something of himself, but Rondo is definitely ahead of him in the rotation.
