<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Lakers and Derek Fisher moved closer Wednesday to finalizing a basic agreement that will bring Fisher back to his original team, though no deal can be officially signed until later next week. Fisher is expected to sign a three-year deal, starting at about $4.5 million. He has been determined to relocate to Los Angeles to get specific treatment for his 1-year-old daughter Tatum's rare form of eye cancer. The Lakers need a veteran ball-handling guard and value Fisher's leadership and triangle-offense knowledge. The earliest he could officially sign would be next week, because the Lakers have to wait for Fisher to clear seven-day waivers before giving him a new contract. Fisher was in Los Angeles on Wednesday to attend the ESPY Awards. He was a finalist in the "Best Moment" category for his dramatic May 9 mid-game arrival in Salt Lake City: Fisher helped Utah win Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals after spending the day in New York his daughter's surgery that day in New York.</div> Source: OC Register Click here for My thoughts ...
lol. Nice link shape. At least it wasn't for the full MLE. We still have about 1 million left to spend. Who can we sign for 1 million? Smush Parker?
lmao shape. Im at work, and it was so loud. On the Fisher thing, he needs to not take the Full MLE. 1 million, I say give it to the magic, so they can sign Lewis for an extra mill for no reason.
Does this totally kill our chances of signing Francis and/or Magloire?? I would have preferred to have Francis over Fisher. This was obviously a move to appease Kobe. We MIGHT HAVE had a starting lineup that looks like this next year: PG Steve Francis SG Kobe Bryant SF Lamar Odom PF Kwame Brown C Jamaal Magloire That is a pretty solid starting 5. I am still all about trading of Lamar Odom to Milwaukee for Yi Jianlian and Mo Williams as well. If we did that, we would be even more of a solid team. The problem: Is ANY of this gonna get done?!?!?!? <font size=""7"">NOO!</font>
Id take Fisher over Francis anyday this is a guy that already knows the offense and he is a smart basketball player.. I think he can really help us defensive wise aswell.

Continue expecting to see point guards driving into the paint and scoring at will, similar to last season and the season before that and the season before that....
This deal makes no sense...Unless we get KG or JO. This is just another stupid move by Mitch. If there is anyway, we could trade for Jermaine without giving up Odom, our lineup would be... Fisher/Farmar/Jarvis Kobe/Evans/Sasha Odom/Walton Jermaine/Turiaf/Cook Kwame/Mihm? That lineup looks preety good, I really would not mind that at all. It definatley gets far in the playoffs. Before somebody comes back to bash me, saying "There is no way we are making a trade without giving up Odom." This is the best lineup we could acquire this offseason at this time.

Fisher for the majority of the MLE, I am not particularly fond of the idea but we could of had Francis who may be better than D fish in some areas but then Fisher beats him in overs so it doesn't look all so bad and there's also not many other players out there to sign. I would take Magloire over Fisher and Francis.
Bleh. He does not solve the Lakers problems from last season. I hope there still planning a trade or this season is gonna be another long rocky one. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> LAS VEGAS - For all intents and purposes, Derek Fisher will re-join the Lakers. Fisher and the Lakers have agreed to a three-year contract worth about $13,959,000, league sources said. However, there will be a holding period before he can sign the contract. Fisher, who was released by the Utah Jazz last week, has to clear waivers first. It'll take seven days before Fisher can clear waivers, and that won't start until his previous contract of $20,592,600 that he walked away from is amended to zero dollars. As of Wednesday night, the Jazz had not filed the paperwork with the NBA about Fisher's release. The seven-day countdown to Fisher's being free and able to sign with the Lakers won't start until Utah does. </div> SOURCE: PE.COM
Well this move only makes sense if you bring in a guy that could average 20 and 10 a game. But having 3 PG makes absolutley no sense!
Im glad that Fisher came back he can help this offense. But I still hope that the Lakers get KF or JO.
The only reason this makes any sense at all is because he's a veteran. He's already familiar with the offense and is going to bring some great leadership to this team. I also like the fact that it gives our young PGs a savvy vet to look up to, and who knows, maybe he can teach them a thing or two along the line. Still though, I don't really like the signing. The only way I'm agreeing with this is if something else is lined up, but I highly doubt anything will happen.
