<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Steve Francis, who has gone from the "Franchise" to a free agent, could be ready to bring his career back to where it began. Hours after Francis agreed to have his contract bought out by the Portland Trail Blazers, his agent, Jeff Fried, began talks with several teams ? including the Rockets ? to find him a home. "There is no secret Steve has a strong affinity for Houston and for the Houston Rockets," Fried said. "We're talking to a number of teams. Steve has some thinking to do." Fried said Francis, 30, is considering the Rockets, Mavericks, Heat, Lakers and Clippers, all of whom he said have shown interest or have been receptive to pursuing Francis.</div> All though Yao always thought of Francis as a big brother when he first entered the league from China. I just think it makes more sense for Francis to sign with the Clippers, so he'll reunite with friend Cuttino Mobley. Plus Francis and Sam Cassell have their own clothing line together.
I would love Francis here. I had always liked him as a player when he used to play for Houston. Even though we have 3 point guards (not including V-Span, likely gone), I say we should get him to play a little 2 spot here and there. If we get Francis, I say we pull a move with a package of Rafer+JL3+someone for a decent PF.
I was always a big Steve Francis fan, I think a return to Houston would be the best thing for him. I still think Franics has plenty left in the tank, he was in a bad situation while in New York. I think he could come close to regaining all star form if he signs with the Rockets again.
I don't understand why the Rockets keep pursuing scoring point guards when they have so many already. They need to address the hole at the 4-spot.
Yao/ Hayes/Landry/Novak/Reed/Battier Battier/Snyder T-Mac/Bonzi/Head Alston/James/Brooks/Lucas Only place I see a hole is that center spot. A backup C who can run the floor, rebound, block shots, bang, and play the 4 spot is exactly what we need. Moore fits that description, as well as Smith. EDIT: I say we bring in Francis, he can play both the one and he two.
They could always sign Francis. And package Mike James/Rafer Alston and Bonzi Wells for a good 4 spot guy.
Why in the hell would we want Francis back? C'mon guys. Despite his energy, Francis is still the same bonehead ballhandler he was comin into the league. Mark my words, Tmac will NOT like playin with Francis. We already have a Mike James, no need for Francis.
hhhmmm.. Francis showed great promise in his last year with us? He eased off the scoring and distributed more. He still made some awful decisions though. If we DO get him, at least it makes some of our other guards even mre expendable. Allows us to trade for a PF
I stuck Francis on my fantasy team last season and what impressed me about him was not his scoring, but his assists. He would consistently have games of more than 6 assists, while scoring just around 10 points. If he plays like that in Houston with the Rockets, he won't be taking touches away from TMac or Yao at all.

He's not a slasher, and needs to pound the ball to be effective. Unfortunatley, Mike James has that role. While Tmac will take over during stretches. What ur not factoring in is turnovers too.......
