C - Yao, Deke, Butler PF - Scola, Hayes, Novak, Reed, Landry SF - Battier, Wells SG - TMac, Snyder, Head PG - Alston, James, Brooks, JL3 and Sura Surely some package of Sura and maybe Reed/JL3 will be sent for another player before the season starts. What position still looks weak? At first glance another esperienced big might be an option. If the Rockets were to enter the season with the current roster, it looks like either JL3 or Reed will get the cut and two of Butler, Novak and Brooks will be on the inactive list with whoever the 15th man is. Perhaps another bigger 2/3? Perhaps send JL3 somewhere for a 2nd rounder?
I thought Sura was retiring. If so, I dont think we could use him in a trade (I could be wrong). Frankly, I'd be surprised if Alston and Head are both still on the team before the season starts.
apparently the rox signed Mike Harris to a non-guaranteed 2 year deal... source: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports...kn/4967808.html 19 players on the roster.. including Eliyahu gonna be an interesting next few months leading up to training camp...
<div class="quote_poster">bronbron23 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Is scola definitely playing next year?</div> He's already taken the physical. Both the Rockets and his agent are talking like its a done deal. Apparently, Scola is going to pay the buyout himself out of his own pocket. Sounds like he really wants to come to the NBA.

<div class="quote_poster">bronbron23 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Is scola definitely playing next year?</div> He signed a basic agreement thats worth $10 million over 3 years. And about Mike Harris, has anyone seen this guy play? This guy can rebound. But hes only 6'6... reminds you of someone? lol

M.Harris plays F, yes much like C.Hayes....nose for the ball..hustles that type of thing But Harris is a better athlete, has some scoring moves, is really a tweener SF/PF but is just a step to slow to play SF....The guy is strong and wide, takes up a lot of room rebounding in the paint....I wouldn't call him a swingman like the rockets website did.....from what I saw he's outplayed everybody but AB One thing he does good is cut to the basket, and is strong enough to go chest to chest with defenders in the lane. What the Rockets do need is another real swingman. The Hornets give us trouble with their perimeter length and they just got more of that in M.Peterson......
We should look to get an athletic defensive minded swingman. Charlotte looks like they are not going to resign Gerald Wallace (with Morrison and Richardson starting), so maybe we could give them Battier, Head, and James for Wallace, and either Matt Carroll (S&T) or Walter Hermann (only 1 year left on his contract). They showed interest in Bonzi last offseason, so maybe they wouldn't mind him being packaged in a deal. If not, we would have to throw in a first rounder or just forget about Carroll and Hermann.
What do you guys think of Matt Carroll's brother Pat? He played real well for you guys in summer league last year (I know summer league doesn't matter) I think he's as good as his bro though, just needs ashot to really play in the league to stick.
according to chron.com, Harris is physical enough to play inside and quick enough to guard the wing. He's somewhat of a post-up guard like Bonzi. How much of an impact he'd make is questionable, but I can see how he might be useful in some situations.
I think the Rockets have enough players. Getting another good role player will be a plus but I think the current ones on the roster have been proven while the others have potentials.

We need quality, not quantity. We're looking great so far, but we're still not ready for a championship.
We need a guy who can consistently shoot the ball. I want to sign Matt Barnes in Sign in trade. That way we can shave off some of the people from ouor roster and still get him.
Alright so I had this convo with some friends Most seem to think Snyder is the guy NOT Barnes or Posey Snyder is younger more athletic and just as good of a shooter as both except this year when he broke his hand. Plus he is stronger around the rim and an adequate defender. After looking at the numbers I have to Agree. Barnes has had only 1 decent 3pt shooting year, and that was this past one. Snyder maybe the only one of the three still improving..... M.James/S.Francis TMac/Bonzi/L.Head Shane/Snyder Scola/Hayes Yao/Deke Butler/AB/Harris/Novak to round out the 15 man roster The best upgrade now I think would be a backup C, upgrade to Butler. Skip JLIII Reed Landry(Has he signed anything yet) are expendable Sura's contract(retirement) I wouldn't get rid of L.Head. A shooter is always good to have. He and Shane shooting is important to this offense.
