Magloire is a good rebounder, can defend man to man against the bigger guys, and can score a little, at least in comparison to Jason Collins or something. Not much of a shot blocker, but could get 1 BPG while he's on the floor, but that's much better than an of the other Nets big's anyways.
Posted at about just the same time. Good signing for the Nets, but too bad it's just a one-year rental. It should be interesting to see how Magloire plays with Kidd, he isn't the type of athlete Mikki Moore was.
I think this is a great signing, Magloire was a former all star everyone knows he can play, I think he will do well in the nets system. I am very much looking forward to how he plays and effects the Nets W/L
This is great for the Nets C- Magloire PF- Kristic SF- Jefferson SG- Carter PG- Kidd If they had a good bench, maybe eastern conference champs
<div class="quote_poster">DIRK4L1FE Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">So will Magloire play the 4 or the 5? If he's playing the 5, is Kristic going to move to the 4?</div> Doesn't really matter since they compliment eachother well. Who knows, Collins might still be starting.
Great signing, Rod Thorn has done it again. Magloire for 4 million/one year is a better investment than Moore for 15 million/3 years. If Magloire can give us 10/10, 1.5 BPG and some good post play/defense (which he can do), I can see us as ECF contenders next season. Finally, Jason Collins will be BENCHED. Every Nets fan's dream has just come true.
Yup, but Magloire will probably play the 5, he's a pretty slow oath out there, all he can really play is center.

It's a weak year for free agents, and the Nets could always beef up in the post, but why go after Magloire, who's just going to slow the team down when they're out on the break? Why not target a guy like Alexander Johnson who can get out there and run with the big three? Oh well, they could use the rebounding. Assuming Magloire will start with Krstic at the four, I guess their line-up will look something like this - PG - Jason Kidd/Marcus Williams SG - Vince Carter/Bernard Robinson SF - Richard Jefferson/Bostjan Nachbar/Antoine Wright PF - Nenad Krstic/Josh Boone/Sean Williams C - Jamaal Magloire/Jason Collins/Mile Ilic
Talk about getting it done. That was really fast, I must say. I'm still wondering though, are we pursing O'neal?
Hmmm...he is not as old as I thought: 29 - 30 years old. I think he might still have some game left in him.
If you really think about it, this is a pretty awesome deal. 4 million for one year, and he's arguably better than Moore, who was asking for 5-6 mil. Even though, we signed Jamaal, I have a feeling that our offer for Jermaine remains on the table. It's likely that Krstic would be dealt if it goes down, and Magloire will just take over the center position.
Kidd Carter Nachbar O'Neal Magloire That doesn't sound like a bad line-up. We'll need a bench though.

Also the Nets don't really run as much as you'd want them to. They play about the same pace as the Rockets do, and since they had Jason Collins who doesn't get out on the break, and can't even score, I guess they'll be fine. I think they should still look to get Alexander Johnson for a cheap contract though.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I think they should still look to get Alexander Johnson for a cheap contract though.</div> I know Lawrence Frank, and he won't give him any consistent minutes. We would be wasting both money and time on him. Johnson would have the "Linton Johnson" role on the team, and from what I remember, that means, no role at all. Basically a bench warmer.
