<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LAS VEGAS, July 14, 2007 -- At the 2007 NBA Draft, the Rockets weren't one of the teams with a lottery pick. Still, after drafting Aaron Brooks with the 26th overall selection, Houston feels as if it has the winning ticket.

Coming into the NBA Summer League, Brooks? name was not mentioned amongst the headliners. It should have been. Brooks has been the most consistently dominating player through the first eight days. </div>

Yeah Brooks is tearing up the Summer League and looks to be a steal so late in the draft. Cannot wait to see him play regular season ball, if he gets the chance to play behind James and Alston.

I am not going to judge Aaron Brooks until I see him play a season game. I know summer league is to help the rookies and stuff, but I am not going to judge his performance off of summer league games. Remember, John Lucas was the Kobe of last year's summer league, and wasn't all that in season. I think Brooks has way more potential than JJ, but I dont want to make any guesses but regardless of that I think he'll be a good player in the future. An obvious late steal.

I would say that's a smart position to take. No point getting our hopes up too much over summer league games.

But from what I've seen, Aaron Brooks is a complete offensive player. It's the defense which concerns me.

Defensively, he seemed to shut down opposing guards pretty well. He has great lateral movement and seems like a real pest. The only concern is larger guards posting up on him. Well, whenever that happens, we have other guards at our disposal (Mike James).

Yea Brooks seems to be a solid player so far. He can do a variety of things well. We'll just have to see how that translates to real competition.

Anyone see his alley-opp dunk? That was sick.

God I missed it...I meant to tivo the game last night, but I forgot...like the rest of you, I don't want to get too excited, but it would be great if this guy can contribute his first year and be a late round steal.

Or his block against Brandon B. (forgot his last name) a 6'9 PF from Dallas.

Brandon Bowman? I didn't see the game, but he's around 6'9" or so; out of Georgetown.

Anyway, Brooks may have been a shock to a lot of you guys on draft night, simply because he didn't fit a team need, but I think he got picked right where a player with his talent level should have been picked.

I'd say foo82 is right about his defense too. He's quick, especially laterally, and a great on-the-ball defender because of it, but he's also under 6'0" and is all skin and bones. Naturally at that size, you're going to have problems playing defense against anyone with legitimate size.
