<u>Marbury Wants To Play In Italy</u> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jul 18 - Stephon Marbury made a shocking revelation yesterday, saying that when his contract expires with the Knicks in two years, he's planning to play in Italy. Marbury, amidst his 38-city, cross-country bus tour to promote his discount Starburys sneakers, told The Post he wants to eventually leave the NBA after having visited Italy in May with his wife. "I'm not just thinking of doing it, I'm going to do it," Marbury vowed yesterday. "My wife loved it there. It's like a [David] Beckham thing." -- New York Post # During the Olympics, David Stern told us about how big basketball was becoming around the world. He was right. Now I want to make it even bigger for the United States. For my 14th pro season, I want to go when I can still go hard and give the people what they want. I'm looking at how David Beckham is getting love for coming here. He's 32. I'll be 32 at the end of my Knicks' contract. Imagine if someone told him not to follow his heart to play soccer in the U.S. I want to do the same thing for basketball and spread the Starbury Movement so people all around the world can benefit. I want to make things affordable for everybody. -- New York Post </div> Sorry Stephon, but your not even close to Beckham status. Beckham is not only a national star, he's a global superstar plus his wife used to be in spice girls so i doubt he'll have paparazzi and such chasin him when he arrives. lol But anyways if he can really get this Starbury shoe business rollin and spreadin his shoes around the world then its a good business move. I'm just not sure Italy is the right place to sell cheap sneakers. It'd be cool though if Marbury sold all his sneaks around the world and took the benefits towards charities and just stayed in New York and make those overated millions and millions of dollars for himself
I think Marbury has lost his touch. Which I hate to see, because I have his Jeresy, and I can't wear it in 2 years... He'll be great in Italy, it is just to bad he will never win a Championship with the Knicks.
For some odd reason I think he'll rescind these comments in a few years. Unless some Italian team can pay him more than an NBA team, I highly doubt he goes there, regardless of how much he liked the city.
<div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">How come Marbury's been acting so damn strange these last couple of weeks?</div> It's that time of the month again. Marbury's a really weird guy. I wonder how he will do in Italy if he plays there.
Maybe he want's to average 11.5 assists and 2-3 dimes a game in Italy . But it's just so strange to me, in the middle of the offseason, some weeks after talking about Knicks new season he decides to play in Italy without a reason.
<div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">How come Marbury's been acting so damn strange these last couple of weeks?</div> That's what I want to know as well. Maybe he's on something... but hey nba players don't do drugs. Whoever heard of something like that? He'll be good in Italy averaging a respectable, as well as asynchronous, amount of assists and dimes (as he seems to think the two stat figures are not one and the same).
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I think Marbury has lost his touch.</div> I think Marbury has lost touch with reality. Agreed with both Moo2k4 and custodianrules2; he's on something (opiates/ecstasy anyone?) and will probably come running back to the financial security of the NBA when his contract expires. His ramblings should be taken with a grain of salt.
The Knicks should trade for Lamar Odom. Odom, Marbury, and Randolph should have a blast lighting up joints in the lockeroom

Odom and Randolph have been caught with it, but has it effected either's play on the court? Not really. When you look at the players around the league who are notorious for being lazy, it's not a matter of weed making them that way, it's a matter of their characters being weak. Besides, Marbury is way too zealous to be high on weed. He looks like he's on a social opiate, like hydrocodone. Either that, or he's just legitimately insane.

Shoot I might actually watch a knicks game with that stoned lineup. haha
Damon Stoudemire would come off the bench.. with his weed wrapped in tin foil! lol Sooo yeah, the fans would come watch in Italy cuz he's STARBURY!! lol...
