    <u>Will Cavs And Spurs Make A Deal?</u>
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jul 18 - The word going around the NBA is that the Spurs are ready to sign defensive wing Ime Udoka, who had a good year in Portland last year.

But right now the Spurs are over the luxury-tax threshold and want to get under it to make the deal. The Cavs have David Wesley (cap number $1.8 million, real money owed $250,000) and a $2.2 million trade exception.

There may be a deal to be made there, remember the Cavs like third-string point guard Beno Udrih.
The Cavs could trade either for Udrih, if the Spurs can part with him for nothing in return, which isn't certain. -- Akron Beacon-Journal</div>

All though i dont think Beno will completely solve the point guard gap for the Cavs, Beno would be a good pickup. Especially if they can get him for just straight up cash.

Just doesn't seem right helping out San Antonio when they just embarrassed you in the NBA Finals.

I would welcome Udrih but he's better as a backup at this point in his career judging from what I've seen from him.

How about pursuing Brevin Knight or Steve Francis instead?

Brevin Knight gives the Cavs another ballhandler and speed guard. Has the veteran experience you want for a championship contending team, is unselfish with the ball, and doesn't make stupid mistakes with the basketball. He's probably the best pure point guard still out there in free agency.

Steve Francis is looking for minutes rather than money at this point. He should be a nice compliment to LeBron James on the floor because Francis plays well off the ball and still has the ability to create his own offense.

dang good point shape. I didnt even think of that.

But your right I think the real answer to there PG gap would be getting Francis or Brevin Knight. I'm not to sure of the Cavs current money situation at the moment though.

Very good points Knight and Francis completely slipped my mind.

Knight is an incredibly good passer and for those who wouldn't welcome him to the team because he's too small I think would be wrong to do so because the advantage of his passing and being able to control an offense outweighs the negatives he bring to the team because of his height.

Francis would be a second option to Knight, bearing in mind this I am speaking as if both were willing to sign, obviously Francis is a great offensive player and could take a huge weight off of Lebron because he can be isolated and score but he's not the same old Francis. Although he can still play ball look at his performances late last season for example that buzzer beater v washington and numerous 20 point games when he just came back from injury this shows he still got game.

The ideal fit for the team would be Knight I think because Francis is more of a scoring PG whereas Knight is a passing PG, which seems to be a rare type of player in the L at the moment.

Francis is with the Rockets now (again). So that leaves Knight. Knight is everything you'd want in a PG. I would've rather him in the Rockets than Francis.

Don't get me good, Franchise can score, but his decision making is in question. Knight would be a great pick up for you guys.

Brevin Knight is likely joining the Clippers.

Beno Udrih is better than Eric Snow or Larry Hughes at this juncture, so why not?

The Cavaliers should try to trade Ilgauskas while he still has some value.

I don't know if he has value. I mean isn't his contract big?? I think the Cavs should pursue Brevin Knight and if that doesn't work then get Beno.
