Francis was in Houston on Thursday to sign a two-year contract worth roughly $6 million with the Rockets. The club will announce the signing at a newsconference on Friday.

Ok now, Lakers need to make a deal now all other teams are stackin up

    Rocketz: Francis, t-mac, and yao

    We're signing Fish. [IMG]

But in all seriousness, I agree with you. I really hope they're working on something.

I'd rather Francis go to Houston than the Clippers. The Rockets were already a playoff caliber team last season and should make it again this year. The Clippers, were just a few games short of making the playoffs last season, and adding another quality player might have given them the edge over us.

Right now I would group the Lakers with the rest of the playoff bubble teams, Clippers, Hornets, Warriors & Blazers.

These teams rank ahead of us right now:

    Spurs
    Mavs
    Rockets
    Suns
    Jazz
    Nuggets

Yeah the Rockets have had an amazing offseason so far, and I don't think they're done yet. They also added Mike James and retained Bonzi Wells. Plus they have a new head coach in Rick Adelman, who will take full advantage of Yao's offensive game. The team already knows how to play lockdown defense under Van Gundy, and now their offense is going to be opened up under Adelman's Princeton Style Offense.

What are we planning to do? Oh yeah, nothing. We got Derek Fisher, who is no better than Smush Parker on defense, but hey, he's a feel good story and a former Laker who can sell some tickets at the Staples Center. Great job Mitch. I guess we're done for the offseason. Expect Kobe Bryant to demand another trade at the trade deadline

I feel the same way. Trade Kobe already, unless you do something big in the coming weeks.

The Chicago Bulls have not signed Joakim Noah yet to a contract. He was a player the TWolves wanted during the draft (source: Star Tribune) so I'm hoping there's still a chance the Lakers can make a 3-way deal with Minnesota and Chicago.

Exactly. This team seems more intent on babysitting the younsters than they do winning a championship. You might as well save yourself the drama and trade Kobe already. For his sake and for our sake. But that obviously is not going to happen because Kobe Bryant means $$$.

It's also funny that Steve Francis is cheaper than Derek Fisher. Oh well. When Mitch Kupchak is your GM, what do you expect? We should be thankful he didn't give Fisher a 7 year contract

Steve Francis was only cheaper because Portland gave him near $30 million. Francis decided he'd take less money to go to a team that'd give him a shot at wining. If Francis was FA, he would've demanded more money than Fish.

I hope that happens. So the Lakers still have a chance of getting KG. When can the picks be traded?

    Yeah Rockets rule...

Ok forget about my bias, Fish won't cut it for the Lakers. He's a solid pick up but you guys definitely need something big. Well atleast you guys are getting rid of that cancer Kwame.

Been going through JBB and finding rumours about Gerald Wallace. Any truth in them??

PS: yes Francis got a huge payout by Portland.. But he genuinely wanted to play for the Rockets again. He wouldn't take the paycut for any other team (even the huge teams like dallas).

I doubt it. He just got signed so probably can't be traded for like 60 days and when he can he'll be a BYC player which makes him much more difficult to trade. Plus the Bobs actually want him, which is why they gave him a big contract.
