Francis ---> What about Brooks? I'm all for Francis coming back considering how cheap we got him. I'm just concerned with Brooks not developing like expected. For Brooks sake, do you think the Francis acquisition was a good idea? I feel for the little guy. I want him to get PT.
Well, if Alston and Lucas are being shopped, then that means that the Rockets are actively trying to clear room for Brooks to back Francis up at the point, and even if they both still remain on the team, Francis is more than capable of playing off-guard while Brooks runs the point. I think it's important to remember that he's only a rookie though. It's easy to get pumped up about your team's draft picks, but aside from a select handful of players, rookies usually spend their first year or two in very limited playing time. You have to think long-term with players like Brooks. In two years, Francis' contract will run out, and he may leave to go play with his lover Mobley somewhere with a gay-tolerant population like Golden State, and then what? You'll have Brooks, with two years of experience under his belt, to step in and fill that void.
It's not like we are going to keep John Lucas and Rafer, so I am fine with the Francis move. We have five PG's right now and two of them (Rafer and Lucas) are likely to be shipped somewhere else leaving Brooks to be playing a little. I am not concerned at all.
