I've heard two names who have been connected to the Magic in the last few days. The first one is P.J. Brown:

The second one is ... Kwame Brown. [IMG]

On ESPN Radio, Chad Ford was asked what things are brewing and he said that several teams have shown interest in Kwame Brown from the Lakers. Orlando was the first team mentioned on the list of interested clubs. However, Ford said that Kwame would be obtained at a bargain rate so what do you guys think about all this?

I wouldn't be opposed to either of them coming to the Magic. There's not exactly a "log jam" at the PF/C positions at the moment, so either player would be a nice addition to the team. PJ Brown could be a nice vet presence and I don't know that much about Kwame.

PJ would be nice for the minimum, Kwame would be okay but he is due to make over 9 million this year and is a free agent at the end of the season but if we could some how get him to restucture his deal for less money and more years that would be great (I really doubt he would do it though)

It all depends what we have to give up for Kwame. I wouldn't mind him downlow alongside Dwight, who knows maybe playing alongside a dominating player like Dwight will help him finally reach some of his potential. He's never played alongside a dominating big man. He's basically been the best big.

There are 2 type of moves that we can do, we can give them something like Dooling/Garrity/Bogans/2nd for cap(although if they really wanted cap why would they give up Kwame, doesn't make too much sense for LA) and a quality combo guard who could be very good playing alongside Kobe/Odom/Bynum next year. The other option depends on what we are planning on doing for next offseason. If we are trying to get some cap space for the offseason, we can trade Hedo/Bogans for Kwame and a pick or something. That would make the most sense for the Lakers, because they would obviously want a above average player for $9 mil expiring. wouldn't be for it in a player wise swap, but Hedo is likely going to be stuck on the bench and will have a much lesser role this year as Shard plays a similar game that Hedo does and Bogans likely won't ever see the floor behind Hedo/Ariza/JJ/Dooling.

I'd prefer PJ Brown #1 of course, but I wouldn't be opposed to getting Kwame. I'd rather have either of them starting over Battie at least.

Kwame Brown?? Let's pass. I definitely wouldn't mind PJ Brown though.

If we can get Kwame Brown for cheap, he'd be a good pick up. He's an expiring contract, so he wouldn't hurt too much if he doesn't produce. Like Gators also said, he's always been the main big, maybe being alongside Dwight could give him that boost to his game that he always needed.

Kwame is also a solid defensive post presence, not in blocks, but in man to man defense - his help defense is terrible, though. The only thing questionable is his mentality coming in, and his offensive production.

Here's a 3-Way trade I came up with involving Orlando, Sacramento, and the Lakers:

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to L.A. Lakers and Sacramento being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. L.A. Lakers and Sacramento had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.</div>

    Lakers Outgoing - Kwame Brown
Lakers Incoming - Ron Artest & Pat Garrity

Orlando Outgoing - Pat Garrity & Hedo Turkoglu
    Orlando Incoming - Kwame Brown

    Sacramento Outgoing - Ron Artest
    Sacramento Incoming - Hedo Turkoglu

That would be pretty nice, but are the Lakers even interested in Ron Artest?

Yeah I heard that the Lakers might want Artest. I wouldn't mind him. That trade would be fine but I rather have David Lee and I remember Gators made up a trade that was pretty good actually.
