I have no idea were to go to ask so I came here. I am 17 and quit school. I plan on getting my G.E.D and going to the Marines. I have never played any high school football but I love the sport and I am realy good at it. Does anyone know any way possible for me to be able to play pro ball. Im not saying go play at 17 but is it still possible without any high school playing? Any information would be greatly appriciated.
It would be pretty tough if you never play college ball but there have been the odd guys who have done it. Go see the movie Invinsible.
It matters what position you want to play! QB no way, you have a better chance as a WR/KR/PR, a RB or a corner more then any other position. If i was you Id get back into high school just to play football lol, maybe tryout for some really small leagues and then maybe try out in Canada or Arena.
NFL rules say you have to be out of high school at least 3 years to be eligible to play. Your best shot would probably be to go to the Canadian Football League, Arena League or NFL Europe to get experience if you're going to avoid college. Why join the Marines? Why don't you play football for Army, Navy or Air Force? You can get your college Football experience and they'll pay for it.
You won't get in the NFL. You'll have to try independant leagues. I had a friend who didn't get finish High School and he didn't even get his GED. He made an independant football team and actually has done quite well for himself in rugby. Although that doesn't last long. As for how to find them? I'm not sure. I know he tried out because they were holding tryouts right after his rugby team. He made it and they wanted him to play Strong Safety. So possibly google and look for some leagues around the U.S. I know another guy I've talked to on another forum that played in some leagues. He's in a independant league as well. It's more like a part time gig though. Your not going to make much money in all likely hood though. At least I know they didn't pay much to my friend.
You are taking a tough road, but it can be done....If you are hell bent on not finishing H.S. or playing in college, then the Marines are a good place to find yourself....look up a player named Mike Anderson, hes a RB with the Baltimore Ravens....he came to the NFL after a his Marine career was over and I know he played football while in the corp....I dont know alot about thier football program, but I know its competitive....If you are serious, this is my suggestion to you: Go back to HS and play your but off....earn a scholarship and go to college....thats the easiest road to the NFL....
Well Im not saying Im going to avoid college football, I just figured how would that work not finishing high school. I thought about playing for the Army and getting college experience that way but would that work due to not finishing high school? (Pack Attack). And Canadian Farve Fan I almost gave up on a football career until I seen a part of the Invinsible movie. So is it possible to just get me G.E.D and go to the Army and play for about 3 years and try to get into the NFL that way? And I wanted to play WR.
