<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Kings are looking for a backup point guard, and Mike Wilks hopes the search stops with him. According to two league sources, the five-year veteran, who played 47 games last season with Seattle and is a free agent, will have a tryout Tuesday in Sacramento. Wilks, 28, has been a role player with six teams, winning an NBA title while with San Antonio in 2005. Wilks' agent, Bill Neff, declined comment. Although the Kings used their full midlevel salary cap exception to sign forward Mikki Moore, they still have available a biannual exception worth $1.83 million. The Kings on Friday rescinded their qualifying offer to guard Ronnie Price, making the third-year player an unrestricted free agent and opening up the search. There clearly is a need at the position. Second-year guard Quincy Douby is unproven, especially at the point, not to mention he suffered a back injury in the Vegas Summer League in mid-July. Otherwise, the backup point guard duties primarily would fall on swingman Francisco Garc?a.</div> Source: Sacramento Bee
I kind of hope that Wilks re-signs with Seattle because I really like his game. He's a true professional and has never complained about not playing. He comes in and does his work. He's got the quickness and the IQ to play. I think he'd make a solid backup. He's just been stuck behind the likes of Ridnour and Watson here, both who seem to cry when they don't get enough minutes on the floor. Mike Wilks deserves to play and I'd be happy to see him succeed.
I still remember when he played a year in minnesota and had like 40 some assists with only one turnover at one point. It was crazy.
If you guys get Mike Wilks you will be getting the best available free agent point guard on the market. To be honest I'd take Mike Wilks over Luke Ridnour and Earl Watson. This kid is an absolute winner. I wish that you guys wouldn't have released Ronnie Price. He was another guy who I thought performed very well when given an opportunity.
I've always wanted to see this guy get a chance. I liked him on his short stint on the Bulls. I would have kept him over Frank Williams. Oh well.
