The Mavs have until Aug. 1 to decide whether to release him, but Barea's agent expects the team to pick up the option for another year.

"I'm fully expecting him to remain with the Mavs," agent Richard Katz said Wednesday. "He's done everything they asked and more, and he's had a great summer."

As an undrafted rookie out of Northeastern, the 6-0 Barea averaged 2.4 points and 5.8 minutes in 33 games. He averaged 14.4 points and 6.2 assists per game for the Mavericks' team in the Las Vegas summer league.</div>

Yeah i was just about to post this. I hope this gets done, because all though he barely played I liked what i saw when he did.

Hes just so damn fast it seems. And not just on offense, i mean defense too. He's got real quick feet when playing defense it seemed like to me. The Mavs don't have very many PGs on the squad so I say we give the Puerto Rican a shot and he could someday become a good producer off the bench.
