CWebb indicated that BShaw was trying to get him to come to LA. How can we make this happen? He would never take the veteran's minimum. Would a sign and trade with Detroit for Kwame, Cook or Radman work?

We still have the vet's minimum and 1 million left of our MLE. Anyways, Webber had a chance to join us last year at the trade deadline, but chose Detriot. I honestly don't see why he would come running to us now, but I'll take him for cheap. I personally think he's going to sign with a contender if he's still willing to play another season
I don't understand why Webber would want to accept the veteran's minimum to come to Los Angeles. They're a borderline playoff team next season, not the leading title contenders they were when both Malone and Payton signed with them for cheap, so whatthef? is right, it'd have to be a sign-and-trade. As for sign-and-trade possibilities, Brian Cook comes to mind, but I don't see why Detroit, or anyone for that matter, would want to add him. Outside of Cook, all of their reasonable contracts are guards, and Detroit is already pretty stacked on the perimeter, so I don't see how this would go down.
Unless he comes cheap (for, say, Brian Cook), I wouldn't want him on the team. He's pretty much toast at this point.
Webber is an upgrade over Kwame. However, Detroit wants to shed salary so the Lakers would likely have to take back Nazr Mohammed along with a sign & trade deal with Webber. The Lakers could sent out Kwame's $9075000 * 1.25% = and take back$113,43750 Nazr makes $5,632,200 So Lakers could sign Webber for the difference of $5,711,550

The frustration with Smush and Kwame was you never knew what you were going to get each night from either of them. With Fisher and Webber you get a better sense of what type of production to expect each night. It's a lot easier to coach a team and build the chemistry when you have consistent performances.

Either way, it looks like this is a moot point, because Webber's probably only going to wind up in either Detroit or Dallas.

To be honest I didn't care for the Fisher signing because of the amount and length of his deal, however, he is an upgrade over Smush Parker on both ends of the court. Fisher can do what he does best in the Triangle offense, which is spot up for 3's and midrange shots. He just needs to shoot 38% to 40+% from behind the arc (which he did as a Laker before). You also don't have to worry about Fisher in close games being a liability at the charity stripe. Smush shot under 70% from the free throw line last year. I remember they flashed a stat during one of the games and Smush was just hovering above 40% from the free throw line in the last quarter of the game. At least Webber can catch the ball and is still one of the best passing big men in the league.
Bless B-Shaw's good 'ol heart, but I don't see how CWebb would choose LA, especially when he can play for championships in DET or DAL.
