<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Miami Herald - The Heat concluded its nearly month-long search for a veteran point guard Friday when it agreed to terms with guard Smush Parker, two sources said. Parker started most of the past two years for the Lakers before losing his starting job late last season. Parker, 26, is believed to have agreed to a two-year contract for a portion of the Heat's $5.35 million mid-level exception. The deal is contingent on Parker passing a physical on Monday. The Heat's opening day starting lineup - PG - Smush Parker SG - Daequan Cook SF - Dorell Wright PF - Udonis Haslem C - Shaq (all 35 years of him) Oh how the mighty have fallen... I guess that's the risk the Heat took when they decided to sell the future of their franchise for a player with only a good post-season or two left in him. On the flipside though, Derek Fisher's not exactly an upgrade. The Lakers have a proclivity for egocentric, shoot-first, no-defense point guards. Atkins, Smush, and Fisher should form a union.
Good riddance. I think $2.5M is a fair price for Smush. The Lakers would have probably paid something similar if they decided to keep him. Smush might play with more passion with the salary increase, and playing off of both Shaq and Wade. He's always had good length, and finishes well around the basket.
Good riddance. I'm actually shocked he got a contract from anyone outside of the NBDL. He's got a huge ego and plays zero defense. His jumper is horribly inconsistent and he doesn't do much for passing. The only thing he's decent at is finishing around the rim, and to me, that's not enough to garner much more than NBDL money.

Look around the league, and you'll find that 50-75% of today's point guards are in the same mold. It makes it so much more special when players like Deron Williams come around. Not to take anything away from him, because I'm one of his biggest fans, but I don't think he'd be regarded nearly as highly if he played twenty years ago.
Maybe with this addition, we will see a Heat vs Lakers Christmas day game after all? Shaq vs Kobe Wade vs Kobe Riley vs Phil Payton vs Lakers Smush vs Lakers

I think Smush is one of those players who tries hard when he has nothing to lose. A heftier contract might cause him to lay back and soak up money.
Well i hope nobody takes it to series i know all of you guys will miss him...lol j/k. The heat must be desperate for a PG.
I like how I read it in the ESPN article about this Smush signing it said: "Parker signed with his 7th team after guiding the Lakers into the playoffs" Sorry I laughed alot when I read that.

Wow, liberal press is sinking lower and lower by the day.

Hell yeah, I'm happy for Smush.. He'll be getting $2.5 mil now and he won't have to play in the triangle offense which I feel totally didn't compliment his game. Smush might be really good, I'm telling you guys, dude is a baller, he just WAS NOT the right fit for the Lakers at all what-so-ever.
Well, at least the Heat did win a title. Thats what they were gunning for. Its going to be a long season down in Miami.. haha
I wouldnt be talking too loudly guys, the heat may be a crappy looking team, but look at us. Shaq isnt as good as he used to be, but he is still a top center, they have reasonably good defense in comparison to us (i think, not too sure though) and a much better offense and team oriented attitude than us. All we are at the moment are the LA Kobe Bryants, so i wouldnt be putting the heat down just right now. Anyway, I hate smush and I hope he has a horrible season and that the Heat lose in the first round again, haha!

<div class="quote_poster">Laker_fan Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">You forgot Bynum vs Shaq</div> What's the appeal in that? One of the league's top three centers (when healthy) going up against a player who's not even one of the league's top three up-and-coming big men? I mean, pretty much every other team in the NBA has a more interesting Shaq match-up.
